This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.

Up until Fortune City closed its web-hosting site at least fifteen years ago, I had been posting VW information there about surnames Van Woert / Van Wert and variations or misspellings. My intention was to provide a place for VW researchers to find documentation and explore vital records. I still have the info and wonder if it might be useful to your one-name study. The main source was US and some CAN censuses along with Soundex information for each state / province. I also had entries from family bibles, cemetery listings, war pension info and church records.
I've never participated in a one-name study but would be interested in helping in some way. Although I am of age to retire and then some, I do still greatly enjoy my day job. That means discretionary time is scarce, but is generally on weekends and the summer months. It would be good if the information could be useful.
