Prior to 1831, the method of reception into the church was not recorded. See J. P. Lane, Manual of the First Congregational Church, Bristol, R.I.
Note also the clarifying article "Elder Wights Marriages" from The New England Historical and Genealogical Register 120 (1966) pages 3–11, in which it is observed that Elder Wight consistently recorded the maiden name, rather than the standard married name, when recording the second marriage of a widow.
See also volume 34, 1880 of The New England Historical and Genealogical Register pp.132–138 and pp.259–264 for baptisms of the First Congregational Church at Bristol prior to 1730, which Arnold omitted.

Numerous errors found within said book for surname BRAND. See profile of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brand-41. I imagine this issue is not limited to one surname.

I recommend viewing actual records for accuracy. Many cited vol and page numbers are incorrect within said book. Therefore, the easiest and most efficient way to locate original records is to use the following indexes:

Two access points to the same index:

Furthermore, it appears FamilySearch's collection titled "Rhode Island Births and Christenings, 1600-1914" was taken from Arnold's book. The images on said birth records only redirect you to unindexed Film #930813 found in Town meeting and vital records vol. 2-4 1706-1819, Westerly, Rhode Island. The above indexes make it easy to navigate to the correct page for the primary record.
