The Alfred sailed from Hamburg on 4 November 1857 and arrived in Port Adelaide on 13 February 1858.

The final leg of the Voyage to Melbourne in late February 1858 from South Australia carried the remainder of the original 85 emigrants from Germany.

From The Argus of Thursday 25 February 1858 we see:

February 24. - Alfred, Hamburg barque, 362 tons, J. Meyer, from Hamburg via Adelaide 21st inst. Passengers - cabin : Mr. and Mrs. Engler, Miss Jurgensen, Miss Bernhard, Messrs. R. S. Sartorius, C. F. H. Scheffus ; and 27 in the steerage. Mollenbaech, Uhlhorn, and Co., agents.
