The Battle of Sacket's Harbor took place on 29 May 1813. (It was actually a second battle as an earlier battle occured on 19 Jul July 1812, according to information posted at the site.) The British were attempting to capture the town which was an important base and dockyard for the Americans. The British were beat back by the American militias and sailors. [1]
