History
Waterloo Plantation is located on Johns Island, Charleston County, South Carolina. Paul Chaplin Grimball owned Waterloo Plantation at his death. Waterloo contained 895 acres of high land, and 127 acres of marsh.[1] Paul C. and son Thomas H. were in a contract to lease Waterloo in 1854 (mostly unreadable)[2]
Paul C. Grimball passed the Waterloo Plantation on to his daughter Pauline Grimball McFaddin in his will.[3] In 1866 the Waterloo plantation seems to be owned by Pauline's brother, Isaac Grimball. Isaac applied for Restoration of Property through the Freedmans Bureau in 1866.[4]
