About the Project
The Watson Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Watson name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Watson name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Watsons), by time period (18th Century Watsons), or by topic (Watson DNA, Watson Occupations, Watson Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

My roughly-five disconnected branches so far have their earliest-known origins in Slains Parish, County of Aberdeen; Mecklenburg County, NC; Laurens County, SC (maybe Pennsylvania – gets confused thus with Bucks County group/s); and Bedford, Buckingham, Powhatan Counties, Virginia. A combination of oral history and Discover Reports would have me believe that we are a Scottish family from the circa 1470s which if true probably means that there are way more of my relatives' lines out there which need to be identified.
I will add my name to the list and a sticker to my profile per the current instructions, and I will look into adding some profiles into categories as appropriate. If guidance can be provided to me, I'd appreciate it.

My great grandfather is Robert Watson. At the time of his marriage to Frances Moore, they lived in County Tyrone, Ireland. I believe Roberts line came originally from Scotland. His father was John, and his mother possibly was Ann. I would like to learn more about the Watsons.
I live in Australia from Moses & Sarah Watson who emigrated in the 1800s from Renwick UK

Thank you for your interest. The One Name Studies Project requires its participants to be Honor Code signatories and volunteer genealogists. Once you do that, I can get you added to the study as a member. If you prefer not to, you can certainly collaborate with the current members of the study using the comment section here.
Sincerely, Amy Gilpin WikiTree's One Name Studies Project Co-Leader
