History
Waverly Plantation is located on James Island, St. Andrews Parish, Charleston County, South Carolina. Paul Chaplin Grimball owned Waverly Plantation. At his death the plantation was to be passed on to his son Isaac P. Grimball.
This plantation is not to be confused with the Waverly Rice Plantation of Pawley's Island.
Although bequeathed to Isaac Grimble, it seems that this plantation may have been run by Paul C. Grimball's son Thomas H. Grimball until his death (see 1860 slave schedule below). In post Civil War records this plantation was called Grimball's Plantation.[1] There is almost no information available about this plantation.
