Wayne Township |
Wayne Township is one of the thirteen townships of Clinton County, Ohio. it is one of twenty Wayne Townships statewide. Named for Anthony Wayne. Before 1837, Wayne Township was a part of Green and Richland Townships.
The family of John Jackson and his father-in-law Bowater Beals are believed to be the first white settlers arriving in 1802. James Haworth, John Walters, and Nathaniel Pope arrived in 1803. Other early settlers in the area were William Moore in 1806, followed by Edward Curtis, Joseph Rooks, Thomas Stell, John Oxley, Stephen Martin, and Thomas Draper.
