Location: Hirschberg, Hirschberg, Liegnitz, Silesia, Prussia, German Empire
Surnames/tags: Weinmann Wymann Hirschberg
Searching for the forefathers of the Weinmann lineage in Hirschberg, Pomerania, Prussia (now Jelenia Góra, Poland).
The last known documented family member would be the Magister GEORGE WEINMANN (1680-1748, Hirschberg). According to the Book "Presbyterologie des Evangelischen Schlesiens, Dritten Theils, Zweiter Haupt-Abschnitt, welcher die Protestantische Kirchen- und Prediger-Geschichte der Stadt und des Fürstenthums Jauer in sich begreift.", written by pastor Siegismund Justus Ehrhardts and published in 1784, George Weinmann's father was a "Kaufmann" (eng.: merchant/businessman) going by the name of CHRISTOPH WEINMANN.
A search with MyHeritage also brings up a connection to a certain man called TOBIAS WYMANN, who is supposedly a brother of George Weinmann.
It would also be appreciated, if someone would be able to (help) provide the missing link between the son of George Weinmann, pastor GOTTLOB (Gottlieb) BENJAMIN WEINMANN (1722 - 1795, Hirschberg), and Johann CARL Weinmann (1820-1901, Hirschberg).
_______
The Weinmann family originally hails from Franconia (winegrowers, as the family name suggests, near Nürnberg). Occasionally members of the family seemed to have gone by other variations of the family name, like e.g. Weimann or Weymann. Family members from the branch in Hirschberg were mostly either forwarding agents or they had a position in the protestant church.
