West Terrace Cemetery, originally known as the Adelaide Public Cemetery, is South Australia's oldest cemetery, first appearing on Colonel William Light's 1837 plan of Adelaide. State Heritage listed, there are approximately 150,000 burials here. It is one of 4 cemeteries managed by the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority.

The first known burial at West Terrace Cemetery was for William Thomas Newman on 6 July 1840, records prior to this date were destroyed by fire.
