This is a list of ideas for future improvements to the WikiTree AGC Chrome extension.
The description field of residence facts
This often contains information automatically inserted by Ancestry from the census. However, the transfer through the GEDCOM and GEDCOMpare removes/adds punctuation.
- So, in an Ancestry Residence fact for the England 1881 census the description might say:
- Marital Status: Widow; Relationship to Head: Mother
- But in the biography generated by GEDCOMpare the description will be:
- Marital Status: WidowRelationship to Head: Mother.
The extension already reinserts punctuation for specific strings that it recognizes. In this case the extension creates this narrative:
- In the 1881 census Elizabeth was living in Camberwell, London, England. Marital Status: Widow. Relationship to Head: Mother.
It would be nice to turn this into a more narrative sentence. Unfortunately we don't have any info about who else she was living with. So we can't say things like "She was widowed and living with her daughter and son in law." or "She was living with her husband and three children.".
Possible improvements:
- Have an option to remove certain of these strings from the description.
- Marital Status: Married is something you would normally remove manually (perhaps after checking that it fits the facts).
- Relationship to Head: Wife could also be removed
- Relationship to Head: Lodger is more interesting
- Attempt to parse/identify all the possible strings and then attempt to construct a narrative sentence. e.g. for the example above:
- She was a widow and living with one of her children.
