The UK government probatesearch web site provides access to three record sets. These are described on the National Archives page here. The three record sets are:

  1. Index to wills and administrations (1858–1995). This also contains images of the pages from the National Probate Calendar
  2. Index to wills and administrations (1996 to present)
  3. Index to soldiers’ wills (1850–1986)

There is some discussion on the Evidence Explained forum about how to cite UK probate records here.

The information in the probate calendar page images is not transcribed. So Sourcer will prompt the user to transcribe parts of it when creating a citation.

The information provided on the pages changed in about 1968 and again in 1973.
