Location: Lübeck, Germany
Surname/tag: Haake
The business of Wilhelm Haake is well documented in the on-line Lubeck address book archive "Lübeckisches Adreßbuch" accessible via "https://digital-stadtbibliothek.luebeck.de/viewer".
The first entry is in 1903 [1] and listed "W. Haake, Technisches Bureau und Installationsgeschäft; Zentralheizungen, in Mengstr. 4 in Lubeck. Private address Königstr. 35." This remained unchanged in 1904 [2] and 1906 [3].
In 1908 it has become "Wilh. Haake, Elektrotechnische Werkstätten" in the Breitenstr. 61a and the private address was Parkstraße 48 [4].
In 1910 the business has moved to Fischstraße 29 and in addition to a telephone number 455 there was also a telegram address "Lichtkraft" [5]. This address remained unchanged through to 1925 [6].
In 1928/1929 it was briefly in the Breite Straße 43 [7] but in 1929 [8] it had moved to Mühlenstraße 59-63, where it was to remain.
After Wilhelm's death in 1945 his wife Agnes and later daughter Lisbeth (Haake) Eggeling ran the business which became a lamp shop. The last address book entry was in 1967 [9]. When Elizabeth gave up the business is not clear but in the 1970's she was living with her daughter in Laupheim, Baden-Würthemburg (personal memories).
It is interesting that there is still a lamp shop operating in Mühlenstraße 59-63 Lubeck today.
