Will of Anna Maria Charlotte Soame (abt.1732-1804)
This is a transcription of the register copy of the Will of Anna Maria Charlotte Soame of Orchard Street Portman Square, Middlesex, England. It was written on 18 May 1801 and proved at London on 6 July 1804.[1][2]

This is the last Will and Testament
of Anna Maria Charlotte Soame of Orchard Street
Portman Square Spinster

I give to Elizabeth Dorothy
Watson the sum of five pounds

To Elizabeth
Viteux now residing in Brewers Street the Sum of
five pounds

To Ann Apthorp Wife of Doctor
Apthorp and Sister to the Reverend Thomas Crick of
Little Thurlow the Sum of Ten pounds

I give and
bequeath to my Nephew Charles Stevenson Lieutenant
Colonel of the fifth Regiment of Infantry the Sum

of one hundred pounds

to Catherine Geil the
two pictures of my brother

the other of my Aunt
Nayler

to Izabella Gell
my pin with hair set
round with diamonds all the rest of my Trinkets
and all my wearing apparel my house in
Orchard Street household furniture plate
Linen China Books together with the Sum of
five hundred I give and bequeath to my faithful friend
now living with me Jane Topham Spinster her
Executors Administrators and Assigns forever

I bequeath
to Charlotte Kisbridge? the Sum of four pounds to
be paid to her by my Trustees hereinafter named
annually during her natural Life on Christmas
Day next after my Decease

and to Frances Kirby
one years full wages over and above what shall
be due to to her if she shall be living with me
at the time of my decease

I desire to be interred in
as private a manner as may be in the church
at Thames Ditton in the County of Surrey to be
conveyed in a herse and four horses without any
coach attending I give and bequeath

all the Rest
Residue and Remain of my Estate or Estates and
Effects whatsoever and wheresoever they may be found
and likewise whatever property I may hereafter be
entitled to in Land or Money Goods and Chattels under
whatever name or description then may be to
Jane Topham now living with me my Brother
Henry Soame of Little Thurlow in the County of
Suffolk the Reverend Mathew Kenrick of Blechingly
in the County of Surry and the Rev Thomas Alth
of Little Thurlow in the County of Suffolk their Heirs
Executors and Administrators In Trust that they my
said Trustees and the Survivors and Survivor of them
and the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor
shall and do as soon as conveniently may be after
my Decease, receive collect and act in the Remainder
thereof and invest or put out to Interest in or
transfer the same into the names of them the
said Jane Topham Henry Soame Reverend
Mathew Kenrick and Reverend Thomas Crick or
the Survivors or Survivor of them or the Executor
Administrator of such Survivor In Trust in the first
place to permit Suffer or Sufficiently authorize and
empower receive and take the dividends ..ing
and annual produce thereof to her own use during
the life of the said Jane Topham and immediately
after her decease upon Trust to a sign transfer
and make over the same to my Nephew Lieutenant
Colonel Charles Stevenson of the fifth Regiment of

Infantry his Heirs Executors Administrators and
Assigns for his own use and benefit and in case the
said Jane Topham should not survive me I bequeath
to my said Nephew Charles Stevenson his Exe[cut]ors
Adm[inistrat]ors and Assigns my house in Orchard Street &
household Furniture Plate Linen China Books and
the sum of five hundred pounds hereinbefore bequeathed
to the said Jane Topham and do direct that my
said Trustees shall in such case hand possessed of
the property so as aforesaid bequeathed unto them
for the sole use and benefit of my said Nephew
Charles Stevenson his Heirs Executors Administrators
and Assigns and direct all my just debts and funeral
Expenses to be paid and that it shall and may
be careful to and for my said Trustees or the
Survivor or Survivors of them from time to time
to alter and transpose the Securities or Funds and
the Monies placed thereon as to them my said
Trustees shall seem prudent the same being with
the consent and approbation of the said jane
Topham in case she shall survive me as aforesaid
ans that also my said Trustees or the Survivor or
Survivors of them shall not be chargeable with any Loss
or Damage which may happen in or about the
execution of the Trusts of this my Will without
his ^her or their wilful Default

I do give to the aforesaid
Reverend Thomas Crick the Sum of Ten pounds

to the Reverend Mathew Kenrick Ten pounds to be
laid out in a Ring to be presented to him

To my said Brother
Henry Soame the Sum of one hundred pounds and

do constitute and appoint the said Reverend Thomas
Crick Jane Topham Henry Soame and Reverend
Mathew Kenrick Executors and Executrix of this my
Will and I do hereby revoke all former wills and
codicils by me at any time heretofore made and
declare this to be my last Will and Testament In
Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
Seal this day the Eighteenth of May one thousand
Eight hundred and one /—/ Anna Maria Charlotta
Soame // /—/ It is my wish that my said Nephew
Charles Stevenson shall take the name and bear
the arms of Soame /—/ Signed Sealed Published
and Declared by me the said Anna Maria Charlotta
Soame as for her last Will and Testament in the
presence of us who at her request and in her
presence have subscribed as witnesses thereof /—/

This will was proved at London on the
Sixth Day of July in the year of our Lord one
Thousand Eight hundred and four before the
Worshipful ..... Pearce Parson Doctor of
Laws Surrogate of the Knight Honorable Sir
William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master
Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of
Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of
Henry Soame the Brother of the deceased and one
of the Surviving Executors named int he said Will
to whom Admon was granted of all and singular
the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased
having been sworn duly to adminsiter power
reserved of making the like Grant to the Reverend
Thomas Crick the other Surviving Executor named
in the said Will when he shall apply for the
same.
