I Charles Howard of the parish of St Clements Danes in the county of Middlesex Esquire being in health and perfect memory thanks be to God do make this my last Will and Testament in manner hereafter following (that is to say) First I bequeath my soul to God hoping by his mercy to obtain life everlasting and my body to the grave to be buried in a very private manner at Dorking in Surrey where my dear wife and children were buried and to the poor of the manor abovesaid my Will is that my Executor shall cause to be distributed corn bought and made into bread to the value of twenty pounds which said corn so bought and made into bread shall be given to the poor of the manor of Dorking and Capel aforesaid at several times according to the discretion of my Executor Next I give and devise all those three parts of the manor of Dorking alias Dorking and Capel in the county of Surrey with all those rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging and also all other lands and tenements whatsoever within the said manor of Dorking aforesaid to my dear and loving son Henry Charles Howard to have and to hold all and every the before mentioned premises to him and his heirs forever ^to the only proper use and behoof of him and his heirs forever^ Also I do give and bequeath all that residue of the term of two hundred years granted me of the Barony of Graystock and all those my Manors Lordships messuages lands tenements rents and reversions with the rights members and appurtenances whatsoever in the counties of Cumberland and Westmoreland or either of them and also all those my messuages and tenements and appurtenances situate in Norfolk or Arundel buildings in the county of Middlesex and also my right title interest claim and demand whatsoever both in law and equity of in to and out of the said premises to my said dear son Henry Charles Howard To have and to hold the same to him and his Executors Administrators and Assigns I having or claiming an estate or estates for years only And I do give and bequeath all other my goods chattels rights credits and personal estate whatsoever unto my said dear son whom I do make and constitute sole executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all other Wills and Testaments whatsoever In Witness whereof I the said Charles Howard have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of April in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred ninety and six - Charles Howard - signed sealed and published in the presence of - Jo: Green - H. Note added at the side of the Will “On the twenty third day of June 1750 Administration with the Will annexed of the goods chattels and credits of the Honble Charles Howard late of the parish of St Clement Danes in the county of Middlesex esq., deceased left unadministrated by Henry Charles Howard Esq., deceased whilst living the son sole executor and residuary legatee named in the said Will was granted to Frances Howard spinster the Administratrix with the Will annexed of the goods of the said Henry Charles Howard deceased being first sworn duly to Administer.”
