Will of Edmund Boddicott
This is a transcription of the register copy of the Will of Edmund Boddicott of East India House, London. It was written on 16 November 1756 and proved at London on 10 October 1761. [1]

Edmund Boddicott

I Edmund Boddicott of the
East India House London Gentleman being in good health
of Body and of sound and disposing Mind Memory and
understanding do make this my last Will and testament in
manner following (that is to say) First I desire to be decently
and privately interred at the discretion of my Executrix
hereinafter named.

Item I give devise and bequeath unto
Mary my beloved Wife out of the great Esteem I have for
her affectionate Love and disinterested Discharge in Every
tender and Conjugal Duty All my real and personal Estate
whatsoever whereof I shall happen to be seized or possessed
or intitled unto at the time of my Death in Possession
Reversion Remainder or Expectancy either under the Will of


[Page two] my late Nephew Richard Boddicott or my late Friend Mr
William Wood or otherwise howsoever To hold the same
with all my Right and Tithe thereunto unto and to the use
of the said Mary my Wife her Heirs Executors and Adm[inistrat]ors
for ever according to the nature of the said several Estates

And lastly hereby revoking all former and other Wills by
me heretofore made I do declare there presents only to
be and contain my last Will and Testament and thereof
appoint my said Wife Mary Boddicott sole Executrix. In
Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament
set my hand and seal the sixteenth day of November in the
year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty six.
Edm. Boddicot. Signed sealed published and declared by the
said Testator as and for his last Will and estament in the
presence of us who at his request and in his presence have
subscribed our names as Witnesses hereunto and in the
presence of each other. Jno Alexander. Jr?: Pease his Clerk.

This Will was proved at London the tenth
day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand and seven
hundred and sixty one before the Worshipfull George
Harris Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right
Worshipfull Edward Simpson Doctor of Laws Master
Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
lawfully constituted by the Oath of Mary Boddicott
Widow the Relict of the deceased and sole Executrix
named in the said Will to whom Administration was
granted of all and sigular the Goods Chattels and Credits
of the said deceased having been first sworn duly
to administer. Exr
