In the name of God Amen I Edward Field senior of the parish of Tycehurst in the county of Sussex farmer Being aged and weak in body but have perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God I'm calling on to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God they gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executor nothing doubting but the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form first I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Mary Field the sum of 40 pounds of lawful money of England to be paid her by my executor hereafter named at the expiration of 12 months after my decease and likewise a bed and proper furniture hereunto belonging a two pair of sheets and as such other household goods as she may want for her use in case she likes to live by herself also I give and bequeath to Edward Field John Field Thomas Field and Francis Field my sons all their heirs £5 each to be paid by my executor at the expiration of twelve months after my decease also I give and bequeath to Joseph Field my son £10 Or to his heir have lawful money of England to be paid by my executor at the expiration of twelve months after my decease also I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Field thirty pounds of like lawful money of England or to his heirs to be paid by my executor at the expiration of 12 months after my decease desiring all of them to love one another and be good to their mother as they value the blessing of almighty God also I give him bequeath give and bequeath to my daughters Elizabeth and Mary Field one shilling each to be paid by my executor as aforesaid sincerely wishing they may repent of their faults and become good women also I give and bequeath to my son William Field whom I likewise constitute make and ordaine the sole executor all this my last will and testament all and singular my money debts stock household goods Husbandry tackling/ jackling or whatever else it be of what nature or kind so ever by him freely to possessed and enjoyed and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legacy bequeaths requests and executor's by me in anyway before named willed and bequeathed satisfying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal this 15th day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred sixty two signed sealed and published and declared by the said Edward Field as his last will and testament in the presence of us William Collins Samuel Cooke Robert Bishop.

Probate was granted 11th September 1762 with William Field sworn in as Executor.
