This is a transcript of the will of Edward Morris, gent, of Nantygwryd in the parish of Llangollen, Denbighshire, Wales. His will was dated 22 October 1675 and was proved at Oswestry on 18 November 1675.

In the name of god Amen The two and twentieth day October the seaven
& twentieth yeare of our soveraigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of god
of England Scotland Fraunce and Ireland Kinge Defender of the faith &c
I Edward Morris of Nantgwryd in the p[ar]ish of Llangollen and Dioces of St Assaph
gent beinge weeke of bodie but of good and p[er]fect memorie thankes bee to god
Doe make this my last will and testament (revokinge al former wills) in maner &
forme followinge That is to saye I give & bequeath my soule to the hands of the
almighty god my redeemer and my bodie to bee buried in Christian burial
Item I give and bequeath unto Evan Edwards my sonne al that messueage house and
lands by mee purchased of Morris Griffith and of Rowland William situated […]
and beinge in Glynvechan in the Countye of Denbigh The which landes I did by my
Indenture (made in the yeare of our lord god 1673 give graunt and absolutely
convaye unto Richard Edwards of Tregiriog in the County of Denbigh and unto Owen
David of Bu…las in the County of Merronydd Feffees to the use and behouse of my
sd son Evan Edwards his heirs and assignes for ever Also the mo[ie]tie of the sayd
mansion house barnes orchangs and gardens and the messuage by mee purchased
of Rowland Williams did I convaye and confirme in my sayd Indenture and by
these p[re]sents doe give convaye & confirme unto Martha the now wife of my son
Evan for her Jountur in consideracon of her […]on for and dureing her terme of
Life. The which Indenture was made sealed executed and delivered by mee
on the one p[ar]te and by the consent of Thomas David father to the sd Martha on
the other parte Item I give and bequeath unto Arthur Edwards my son eighty
pounds which are in Bru[…]re Item I give and bequeath all my p[er]sonal estate
moneys bonds goods cattells chattells moveable and unmoveable within and
without to my wedded wife Jane vch John to bee disposed of accordinge to her
owne discretion as shee thinkes it fitt betwene my three younger children
Arthur Edwards John Edwards and Thomas Edwards and to noe other use
Intents or purpose To all and every the rest of my children which are not
menconed in this my last will I give and bequeath twelve pence to every
one of them if they shal demand and of my […] Item I doe nominat and
appointe Thomas Edwards my son to bee the executor of this my last wil &
testam[en]t to see my legacies payd and my wil fulfilled In wittnes whereof
I have hereunto put my hand and seale the daye and yeare abovewritten
