In the name of god amen. The fifteenthe daie
of October in the yeere of our Lord god one thousande five
hundred eightie seaven and in the nine and twentieth yeere of the
raigne of our Soveraigne Ladie Elizabethe by the grace of god
of Englande Frannce and Irelande Queene defender of the faithe &c
I Elizabeth Dixwell of Cotton in the Countie of Warr widdowe
late wiefe of Willi[a]m Dixwell late of Cotton aforesaide esquier
deceased, doe make and ordaine this my laste will and testamente in
manner and forme followinge that is to saye Firste I bequeathe my

soule to allmightie god my maker and redeemer by whose deathe and
passion I hope to be saved and by none others And my bodie when it shall
please god to call me to his mercie, I will to be buried in the channcell of the
parishe churche of Churchover in the saide Countie of Warr. neere unto the
place wheare the bodie of the saide deceased Willi[a]m Dixwell my late
husbande dothe lie. And as touchinge the dispo[s]ic[i]on of my worldlie
goodes Firste I give and bequeathe to Margerie Dixwell my daughter
one obligac[i]on of the summ of Two hundrethe poundes of lawefull englishe
moneie whearein John Elkinton and Richarde Elkinton his brother doe
stande bounde unto me for the paimente of one hundrethe poundes to my
Execuutore or assignes at a certain time after my decease limited in the
condic[i]on of the said onligac[i]on w[i]th obligac[i]on and debte I give unto her, in
recompense of a hundred pounde I had of hers the said Margerie bequethed
unto her by the laste will and testamente of the said deceased Willi[a]m Dixwell
my late husbande. Item I give unto my daughter Burneby, my beste
turky chaire. Item I give and bequeath to my sonn Charles Dixwell
my ironn bounde cheste and the presse in my chamber, And the hanginges
in my chamber I lie in. Item I give ti Willi[a]m Dixwell my sonn my ioined
coffer in the chamber at the staire head. Item I give to my daughter
Barbara Dixwell one paire of flaxen sheetes. Item I bequeathe to my
daughter Margerie Dixwell over and besides the bed her father gave her, my
bed I lie in with all the furniture theareunto belonginge, and my red coffer w[hi]ch
standeth in her chamber, And all my apparrell, And one pott, and one
pann, And a dabuett and all my pewter, And one bason and [] ewer
And six plates. Item I give to John Thorpe my servannte the bed he
liethe in with all the furniture thearunto belonginge And one paire of
sheetes. Item I give unto my sonn Erasmus Dixwell a litll pann, and
a [] in the litll chamber over the buttrie. Item I give unto my daughter
Elizabethe Dixwell, daughter to my sonn Thomas Dixwell, one paire of
flaxen sheetes. Item I give to Alice Crowe six shillinges and eighte pence

Twelve pence a peece. Item I give to my daughter Margerie ye hanginges
in her chamber. Item I give to the churche of Churchover, Three
shillinges fower pence. Item to everie Cottager in Churchover Twelve
pence. Item to everie Cottager in Newton Twelve pence. Item to
to everie Cottager in Cofforde Twelve pence. Item I give to my sonn
Benedict Dixwell my deepe dabuett. Item I give to John Dixwell my
sonn Frannces hier sonn Six shillinges eighte pence. Item I bequeathe to my
said sonn Charles Dixwell, the matt in the beste chamber. Item I give
to Willi[a]m Price Tenn shillinges. All the rest of my goodes & chattells
movable and unmovable, my debtes paid, and my funerall expenses dischardged
I give and bequeathe to my saide daughter Margerie Dixwell, whome I
make and ordaine sole and whole Executor of this my last will
and testamente. And I the saide Elizabethe doe hereby revoke and
renounce, all former wills whatsoeuer, by mee heretofore made. In
witnes whearof I the saide Elizabethe dave to this my presente will
sett my marke, the daie and yere firste abovewrittenn. The mark of
the saide Elizabethe Dixwell. Read published and declared to be
the will of the saide Elizabethe Dixwell in the presence of Charles

The abovewritten will was proved at London before the venerable man Master William Lewin, Doctor of Law, and official deputy Master, Keeper and Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on the twenty-seventh, that is of the month of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand five hundred and ninety two, appeared personally Richard Stubbes, notary public, procurator of Margerie Dixwell natural daughter of the said deceased, and executrix named in the said testament; which commission of administration was granted of all and singular the goods, rights and credits of the said deceased, to well and faithfully administer the same according to the requirement of the law in that respect, being sworn on the Holy Gospels of God in due form of law.
