This is a transcript of the will of Evan Evans, gent, of Bache in the parish of Llangollen, Denbighshire, Wales. His will was dated 24 July 1753 and was probate was granted on 15 November 1753.

Transcript

In the name of God Amen I Evan Evans of Bache in the Parish of Llangollen and County of Denbigh Gent
being sick and weak in body but thank God of sound mind and memory. Do make ordain this my last Will and
Testament in manner and form following (That is to say) first I give and bequeath to my brother William Evans
the summ of four pounds yearly during the term of his natural life, and my Will and meaning is (that if
the said summ appears insufficient to maintain and provide for him other necessaries) that my Execut[or] hereafter
named shall allow him sd William Evans a competency during life. Item I give devise and bequeath
to my Cousin John Edwards son to my nephew Edward Edwards of Eglwyseagle in the Parish fo Llangollen and
County of Denbigh All and singular my Messuage Lands and tenement in the Township of Trevor Ucha in the
Parish & County aforsaid to hold to him said Cosn John Edwards and his heirs for ever subject nevertheless
to the yearly payment of one pound and ten shillings which are to be paid into the hands of the Vicar and
Churchwardens for the time being in the Parish of Llangollen & to his and their successors for the time
being forever in trust and to the Use of the poor of Tranan Llangollen & Tranan Trevor to be laid out by the
Vicar & Churchwarden in flannel or some warm cloathing as far as the said summ will reach among
the poorer sort in the said tranans to be provided yearly by St Thomas day or between that and Xstmas
day as it has been used heretofore upward of twenty years the said summ of one pound & ten shillings (to
the uses aforsaid) to issue out of my Lands in Trevor forever from the day of the date of these presents
and my Will & meaning is that the third part or ten shillings only be given for and towards the relief of the poor of
Trevor Tranan : Item I give and bequeath to my neece Anne Evans late of Glyn fechan the Use of interest of
ten pounds yearly for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and bequeath the
said ten pounds to be equally divided between the children of cozn John Jones of Bache Mason by his wife
Martha : Item I give and bequeath to my Nephew Edward Evans of fron the summ of thirty pounds together
with my giers[?] Cart cartsadle and all appurtenances Item I give and bequeath to my nephew John Evans of fron
weaver the summ of thirty pounds Item I give and bequeath to my Cousins Thomas Williams and Jane Williams
children of my nephew William Evans late of fedwddu deceased the summ of twenty pounds to be equally divided between
them. Item I give and bequeath to my Nephew Evan Evans of Bache Weaver the summ of ten pounds Item I give and
bequeath to my Goddaughter Anne Evans daughter of my said Nephew Evan Evans the summ of five pounds Item I
give and bequeath to my Goddaughter and Cousin Jane wife to Evan Jones of Bwlihy garnedd in the Parish of Llantyhlie[?]
the summ of twelve pounds Item I give and bequeath to be equally divided between my Cousin Edward Wynne of Vivod, my
Cozn Sarah Jones of Bache wife to Edward Jones and their daughter Mary the summ of two guinies Item I give
and bequeath to my Cozn. Thomas Davies late of Eglwyseagle the summ of [one guiny?] Item I give and bequeath
to my servant maid Mary Williams the summ of forty pounds together with one truckle bed bedstead and
appurtenances whatever within white cupboard and her choiw pot brass or Iron Item I give and bequeath to
my godson Oliver Parry to his Mother Catherine Parry and his Aunt Margaret Parry of Llangollen fawr
the summ of fifteen pounds to be equally divided between them Item I give and bequeath to my Cousin
Martha wife to John Jones of Bache Mason the summ of seven pounds Item I give and bequeath to my
nephew Hugh Edwards of Pentwen cilcychwyn to my Cosin Thomas Parry of Llangollen fechan and to his sister
cousin Margaret Williams of Wertyn the summ of three guinies to be equally divided between them Item I give
and bequeath to my Cozn Peter Davies of Llangollen the summ of ten shillings Item I give and bequeath to Cousin
Sarah daughter of John Evans of Bache weaver the summ of three pounds Item I give and bequeath to my Cousin Ellin
daughter to my brother William Evans and her two daughters Mary and Anne Jones the summ of fifteen pounds to be
equally divided between them Item I give and bequeath to my brothers in Law Roger Parry, Lewis Parry their sister
Elizabeth Parry Humphrey Jones son of John Parry of Gathydwr to John Jones of ty lyarth to Jane Jones wife of
Henry Jones of Gyfeilie and the youngest son of David Jones late of Pentre felin tanner deceased the summ of one pound
each Item I give and bequeath to my alleis woman Ellin Oliver of Corwen the summ of one guiny Item I give
and bequeath to my servant man Richard Edwards the summ of four pounds Item I give and bequeath to my servant
maid Elizabeth Parry the summ of three pounds Ite[m] I give and bequeath to John Roberts of Castell crochan and
to his brother Simon Roberts the summ of ten shillings e[ac]h Item I give and bequeath to my cozn Mary Davies wife

Item I give and bequeath to my god sons Samuel Parry of Llangollen Abbot and Evan Jones of Blaen
y Bache the summ of five shillings. Item I give and bequeath to my godson Oliver Parry of Llangollen fawr
Fawr one wenscot chest having my wife’s name upon it Item all the rest residue and remainder of my personal
Estate goods cattle and Chattels whatsoever I give and bequeath one moiety or half therof to my Cousin
& godson Evan Edwards son to Edward Edwards of Plasucha and the other half or Moiety to neece Sarah
wife of said Edward Edwards with this provisoe nevertheless that if my neece Sarah Edwards shall happen
to survive her husband Edward Edwards and marry and second husband, my Will & meaning is that from
the day of such intermarriage I do hereby alienate and otherwise dispose of such Moiety or one half
of all my personal Estate, and give and bequeath the said part or Moiety left my neece to be equally
shared and divided between her children by her husband Edward Edwards And I do hereby nominate and
appoint my said Nephew Edward Edwards of Plesucha sole Trustee to see that all and singular the above
articles clauses bequests and devises be perform’d and paid according to my true intent and meaning
And do also declare that the said Edward Edwards and his heirs is & are hereby seized and possessed of all
and singular my Lands & Tenements to the uses aforsaid together will all my personal estate in trust till
all such legacies and devises are paid and discharged, and my Will and meaning is that if my brother Willi
=am Evans his Executors or Administrators or any one of the Legatees shall and will create or cause any distur
bance, neglect to perform their duty as here directed, or commence any lawsuit for or by reason and on acct
of any devise or legacy by me herein disposed of I do hereby order that such share Legacy or bequest made
to that person creating such disturbance & not complying with the letter of my Will is hereby given and
bequeathed to my Executor hereafter named : And I do constitute and Appoint my said Nephew Edward
Edwards sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and disannulling all
former Wills by me made Ratifying and Confirming this to be my last Will & Testament In Witness
wherof I have set my hand and seal this twenty fourth of July in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and fifty three
