This is a transcription of the register office copy of the will of Henry Strelley, gent of St Clement Danes. It was written on the 20 May 1644 and proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on 20 June 1645. Administration being granted to Barbara Strelley relict of the deceased, the executrix named in the will

In the name of God Amen I
Henry Strelley of the parrish of St Clement Danes in the
Countie of Middlesex gent being in p[er]fect memorie & health of
bodye (praised be almightie god Doe make my last will & testament
in mann[er] & forme following And first & principally I bequeath my soule
into the hands of almightie god my Creator trustine in thonly merits
death and passion of Jesus Christ to obteyne remission of all my
sinnes w[hi]ch I have comitted ag[ains]t his divine maker both in thought
word & deed and to be saved amongst the number of the elect at the
comeing of the lord Jesus & my bodie to be buried at the discretion of
my exwcutrix hereunder named

Item I give & bequeath unto my sonne
John Strelley the sum[m]e of foure hundred pounds to be paied him when
he shall come to thage of one & twenty one of that part of my estate
that is now employed by my brother George Strelley in indentures
and in the meane tyme I desire my said brother to imploy it to the best
advantage that my sonne may be maintayned out of the proffits therof
and to accompt for the ov[er]plus thereof at the tyme when it is payable
And if it shall fortune rthat my said sonne shall happen to depart
this life before he attains to thage of one and twentie then I give
and bequeath the said iv<Cthl (four hundred pounds) to be equally devided between my sayd
brother mr George Strelley my sister Mrs Mary Hollands & my nephew
mr Pattricke Strelley

Item I doe give unto my brother mr George
Strelley the sum[m]e of xls to buy him a ring in remembrance
of me

Item I doe give unto0 my sister Holland the sum[m]e of xls in
remembrance of my brotherly love for her

And all the rest of my goods
and other estate whatsoever I have or hereafter by the blessing of god
shall have my debts & funerall charges being deducted I freely give &
bequeath unto my deare & loving wife Barbara Strelley whome
I make ole executrix of this my last will & testament In witnes
whereof I have hereunto sett my hande and seale 22 dio May
