This is a transcript of the will of Hugh Morris, yeoman, of Nantyr Uchaf in the parish of Llansanffraid Glyn Ceiriog, Denbighshire, Wales. His will was dated 27 February 1715/6 and was proved on 1 July 1741.

Transcript

In the Name of God Amen I Hugh Morris of Nantir ucha
in the pish of Llansanffraid Glyn Ceiriog in the County of Denbigh yeom[an]
being in good health of body & of sound & pfect mind & memory
praise be therefore given to Almighty God doe make & ordaine this
my prsent last will & testamt in manner & forme following (that is to
say) first & principally I commend my soul into the hands of
Almighty God hoping through the meritts death & passion of my
Saviour Jesus Christ to have full free pardon & forgivenesse of all
my sins & to inheritt everlasting life and my body I committ to the
earth to be decently buried att the discretion of my Execrs hereafter
named And as touching the disposicon of all such Temporal estate
as itt hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give & dispose
thereof as followeth, first I will that my debts & funerall charges
shall be paid & discharged, Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter
Prudence wife of Hugh Edwards of Erwallo the sume of five shillings
Item I give & bequeath unto Mary the daughter of my son in law Hugh
Edwards the sume of five shillings, Item I give & bequeath unto
my son Thomas Hughes the sume of ten pounds, I give &
bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the sume of fifteen pounds
Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Jane the sume of fifteen
pounds, Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Hester the
sume of fifteene pounds, Item I give & bequeath unto my said
three daughters Elizabeth Jane & Hester all my houshold goods
to be equally devided betwixt them, All the rest & residue of my
psonal estate goods & Chattells whatsoever I doe give & bequeath
unto my two sons Morris Hughes & Richard Hughes to be equally
devided between them whom I doe nominate & appoint exec[utors]
of this my last will & testamt and I doe hereby revoke disanull
& make void all former wills & testamts by me heretofore made
In wittnesse whereof I the sd Hugh Morris to this last will &
testamt have sett my hand & seal the seven & twentieth day of
February in the second year of the Reigne of our Sov’eigne Lord George
King of Great Britaine &c Anno Dni 1715
