A memorial to be registered in the following words to wit “In the name of God Amen Be it remembered that I James Thompson of the Township of Athol in the County of Prince Edward and Province of Canada ____being of sound mind do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following ___ ____ ____ First I order that all my lawful debts and funeral charges be paid out of my personal property Secondly I do give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lydia for her own use and benefit during her natural life all my real and personal property after the payment of the funeral charges and mentioned above and I also require my Executor ___ appointed to ___ and take measures that the property shall not be unnecessarily wasted or expended during the lifetime of my wife Lydia Thirdly I do order and bequeath to my son James the sum of one hundred dollars to be paid in one year after the death of the testator and I also order that as ____ ____ may be after the death of wife Lydia the Executor to be hereinafter named shall proceed to make an equal division of all remaining real and personal property into eight equal parts a s near as they can and shall set off one eighth part to my son Hannibal, one eighth part to my son George, on eighth part to my daughter Almira, one eighth part to my son Byrem. One eighth part to my son Alfred. One eighth part to my son Marinus. One eighth part to my daughter Sarah Eliza and the remaining eighth to my son Melvin. I also order and direct that the undermentioned sums are to be deducted from the several eight parts __from Hannibals eighth __the sum of two hundred and thirty eight dollars. From the share of George’s eight the sum of thirty dollars. From the share of Almira Werden eighths the sum of one hundred dollars and also from the share othe eighth of Sarah Eliza the sum of fifty dollars. Lastly I do hereby by ___ presents constitutes and appoint William A. Palen Esquire Henry Lambert and James Platt the two latter in the Township of Hallowell the former in the Township of Athol Executors and Lydia Thompson Executrix of this my last will and testament thereby annulling and ___ all former wills made by me In testimony wherof I have ___ set my hand and sent this fourth day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty seven. And published by me the said James Thompson to be my last will and testament in the presence of us ___ ____ ___- Subscribed our names in the presence of the testator
