This is a transcription of the register office copy of the will of John Antill the younger, Mercer. It was written on 31 March 1681 and proved in the Prerogative COurt of Canterbury on 12 April 1681.

In the name of God Amen The
last day of March Anno Dom[ini] 1681 And in the Three and Thirtieth yeare of the
Raigne of our Sovereigne Lord King Charles the second by the grave of God of
Englnd etc.I John Antill the younger of Twickenham in the County of Midd[lesex]
Mercer being sick and weake in body but of sound and perfect mind and
memory thanks be to Almighty God Doe make ordaine and declare this my
last Will and Testament in manner and forme following And first I commend my

Soule to Amighty God And my body I committ to the Earth to bee
decently buried at the discretio of my Executrix hereafter named And as touching
all my Wordly Estate I give order and dispose thereof as followeth
And first
declare I am indebted to divers persons in severall sum[m]es of money which I
desire may be paid as hereafter is mentioned. And to thta end I will that my
Executrix and OVerseers in this my Will hereafter named forthwith after my decease
shall call in all my Debts. And shall expose and put to Sale all my Wares and
Merchandise whatsoever And the moneys raised upon the sale thereof shalbe paid
to my Creditors towards the satisfaction of my Debts which I owe And alsoe I will
That they shall alsoe forthwith sell the Lease which I ..... of divers houses
and Tenements in Old Brainford in the said County of Midd[lesex]. And the moneys
raised upon the said Lease and houses shall alsoe be paid towards the satisfaction
of my said Debts And what moneys shall fall short upon the sale thereof for the
payment of my said Debts I will that the residue thereof shalbe raised out of
the Rents and profitts of all my Lands Tenements and Farmes in Horsham in
Sussex and out of my Landes and Tenements in Drayton in Midd[lesex] and in
Twickenham and Tuddington there and in Kingston and Richmond in Surrey
And after my said Debts are soe paid
out of the Rents issued and profitts of my said Houses Farmes Lands and Tene[ments]
aforesaid shall raise the sum[m]e of FowerHundred pounds which I give and bequeath
to my Daughter Elizabeth Antill to bee paid her at her age of One and Twenty years
and in the meane tyme the same shall remaine in the hands of my said wife and
My Brother in Law John Sanders one of my Overseers and to account and pay my
said Daughter the same at her said full age. Alsoe I give and Devise to my said
'Daughter Elizabeth and her heires All that my Messuage Tenement or same called
The Signe of the Feathers and all outhouses and Buildings thereunto belonging with
thappurtenances scituate lyeing and being in BRainford now in the occupation of Bamfield
Warde To have and to hold the said Messuage or same with thappurtanances unto
my said Daughter Elizabeth her heires and assignes forever To enioy the same at her
full age of ONe and Twenty yeares The Rents and profitts thereof in the meane tyme
shalbe to the use and behoofe of my said wife towards the education and bringing up
of my said Daughter
Alsoe I give and devise to my said wife in lieu and satisfaction
of her Third and Dower out of all my Messuages Lands and Tenements whatsoever
One Annuitieyearly or Rent charge of Fifty pounds to bee issued and paiable out of all
my Lands Tenements and Farmes in Horsham aforesaid to her the said Elizabeth
my wife for the terme of her llife without allowance or abtement of or by any Taxes
Rates assessments payments and impositions whatsoever upon Condition notwithstanding
That shee my said wife Doth forthwith release all her right title and clayme of thirds
and Dower out of all my Me4ssuages Farmes Lands and Tenements whatsoever And
I will that the said Farmes Lands and Tenements in Horsham aforesaid shall stand
charged with a Distress for the non payment of the said Annuity be yearly Rent charged
of Fiftie pounds paiable to my said wife halfe yearly by equall portions for and
Issuing the terme of her naturall life as aforesaid ....... I give and allow to the
said Elizabeth my wife the sum[m]e of Twenty pounds a yeare to be raised out of the
Rents and profitts of all my said Lands and Tenements whatsoever and paiable
to her halfe yearly by equal portions for and towards the education and bringing upp
of my Sonne John Antill untill hee shall accomplish the full age of One and
Twenty yeares And then I give and Devise to him my said Sonne John Antill
after he shall attaine the said full age and after my said Debts are satisfied and
after the said Fower hundred pounds are raised to the life of his said sister as aforesaid

Aforesaid to him and his heires forever (Responding? to his said Mother in case
hee hath neglected her Dower) the siad yearly Rent charge of Fifty pounds in manner
and forme aforesaid.
Alsoe I give and bequeath to the said Elizabeth my wife all my
goods and household stuffe upon Condic[i]on that she payes the su[m]me of Fifty pounds
towards the satisfaction of my Debts
Also I give and Devise to John Antill of Richmond
my Father for terme of his life All those fower closes of land lyeing and being in
Richmond aforesaid now in his owne occupac[i]on. And in case hee shalbe disturbed in
the quiet possession thereof and shall not enioy the same according to the intent of
this my Will Then I give to him in lieu thereof the yearly sum[m]e if Five pounds to
bee paied out of the Rents of my Lands and Tenements and paiable to him halfe
yearly by equall porc[i]ons for the terme of his life. Alsoe I give and Devise to the poore
people of the parish of Horsham aforesaid the sum[m]e of Twenty shillings s yeare for
ever. To be issuing and paiable out of my Tenement and Orchard in Horsham
aforesaid now in the occupac[i]on of the Widdowe Palchin' And to stand charged and
liable to a Distresse for non payment thereof
Alsoe I give and Devise to the poore
people of the parish of Drayton aforesaid the like sum[m]e of Twenty shillings a
yeare for ever to be issusing and paiable out of my Messuage in KIngston upon
Thames in SUrrey called the signe of the BlackLyon now in the occupac[i]on of Henry
Land or his assignes the same alsoe to stand charges and bee liable to a Distresse
for non payment thereof
Alsoe I give to the poore of Twickenham aforesaid the
sume of Forty shillings
To my Sister Sanders Five pounds
To my Mother in law
Antill Fifty shillings
to my Brother William Antill Twenty shillings
to Sarah
Bennett my wives Sister Forty shillings
And to my Uncle James Antill and
to his wife Dennes and daughters Tenn shillings a peece to buy them ringes
which said legacies I will shalbe paid them forthwith after my decease
Alsoe
I doe ordaine and make the said Elizabeth my wife sole Executrix of this my
last Will and Testament enioyning her to see my Body decently buried my Debts
and Legacies truly paid and satisfied my children piously and....... brought upp
and educated and this my Will in all things .... and duely performed
And
lastly I doe nominate authorize and appoint my said Brother in Law John
Sanders of Bush Lane London And Thomas Bennett of Walton my Wives
father to bee Overseers of this my Will Desiring them to take the same uppon
them and to bee aiding and assisting my said Executrix and to ioyne with
her is calling in my Debts selling my said Lease in Brainford and all my
Wares and Merchandise towards the payment o my Debts and to raise the
residue that come short out of the Rents and profitts of my said Lands And
afterward to raise the said Fower hundred pounds to the life of my said Daughter
as before in this my Will is directed And all other things to doe and performe in
order to the fulfilling of this my Will and they my said Overseers in their
dicrec[i]on shall think fitt. And for their care and paines therein the first ..........
I give to my Brother Sanders Five pounds & to Mr Bennett Three pounds and forty
shillingsa peece yearly afterwards untill the said Debts Legacies and moneys<b/>
bee payd and satisfied according to this my Will
