I John Carter of the parish of Abbots Langley in the County of Hertford
husbandman being Sick & weake in Body But of perfect & Sound Mind and
Memory thankes be to Almighty God farr above my deserts Do Ordaine
and appoint this my last Will & Testam[en]t in Manner and forme following
First I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Redeemer
hopeing to Obtaine remission of all my Sins And my Body to be buryed in
Such place where it shall please my Executrix hereafter named And for those
goods and Chattells w[hi]ch Almighty God hath bestowed upon me I Do order
Give and dispose in manner & forme following vizt Imprimis I give
and bequeath to my Father all my weareing Apparrell (only me Suite
excepted) w[hi]ch I give and dispose of to my Brother Thomas Carter
vizt All my best Sute of Apparell, and my two best hatts w[hi]ch I now have
All the Rest and residue of my Goods and Chattells whatsoever I give & dispose
of To my deare and Loving wife Sarah Carter Whom I doe ordaine & appoint
Executrix of this my last Will and Testam[en]t. Revoking and disannulling
all other will or wills w[ha]tSoever made or appointed by me the s[ai]d John Carter
heretofore In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seale
