In th ename of god Amen. the fi[r]st daye of November in the yeare of our Lord
god One Thousand Sixe hundred and nine I John Carter of Watford
in the Countie of Hertf[ordshire] the unprofitable servant of god being weake
in bodie, but Strong in mind (praise be given until god) doe
make and ordayne this my last will and Testament in manner
and forme Following: Imprimis I commend my Soule unto
the hands of almightie god my maker hopeing assuredly through
the only merrites of Jesus Christ my savior to be made
partaker of life Everlasting And I commend my bodie now to
the earth whereof if was made: nowe ?ching [touching?] my worldly goods
Item I doe [crossed out, illegible] give [crossed out, illegible] to Elizabeth my wife all the goods
implements and household stuffe w[hi]ch she had at ^the time of my
marriage w[i]th her: and my wish is that she shall have the
disposeing of the house wherein she doth nowe dwell, dureing
her life: and afterwards to come unto my eldest Son

tenn pounds, and payeing unto my Sonne William tenn pounds
and also payeing unto Abell Bennett thelder his heires
and assignes att the decease of Elizabeth my wife thirtie & eight [crossed out, possibly "herunto"]
pounds. Item I doe give to my Sonn John the long table
in the great chamber over the hall w[i]th twoe Joynt formes
and twoe ioynt stooles the midle brasse pott w[i]th the great
pott skillett the midle kettell the cobert over the staires
the great chest in the little chamber my great bibell.
Item I doe give my daughter Rebecca a bedsteed
over the shopp the best feather bed in the house the best
flocke bed one strawe bed fine curtains twoe feather
boulsters the best downe pillows, three open sowen pillowe
beares one fine hollen sheet open sowen, all the Christning
lynnen the great chest over the hall the bigest brasse

brasse morter a warmeing pan a cubbard standing in
the hall next the street the table in the hall the forme
foure ioyntstooles one paire of sheets, the best coverlets, twoe
of the best blankets, a court cubert in the great chamber
the bigest boxe the bigest bibell w[i]th the margent
Item I give to my Sonn William the bigest chest in
the chamber over the shopp, a halfe headed bedsteed over
the chamber over the butterey one floore? bed twoe boulsters
and paires of sheets, the left brasse pott three little
pettels?, the little table in the hall, twoe lowe formed stooles
one coverlid one blankett the old bibell.
Item my will is that Elizabeth my wife shall have the useing
of all the goods & home bequeathed untell my Sonn John

my daughter Rebecca & my Sonne William shall come to one and
twenty yeares of age and as the come to the age of one & twenty
yeares to have their goods as</as> I have bequeathed.

Item I doe lastly make and ordayne my wife to be my whole and
lawefull executrix to prove this my last will and Testament
In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and and
