- In the Name of God Amen, I John English of for Kershaw District, State of South Carolina, Being weak in Body, yet of Sound mind and Memory, and knowing it is appointed for all Men to Die, and after Death to Judgment, Do hereby appoint this my Last Will and Testament, and desire it may be Receiv’d by all has Such,
- First I give my Soul to Almighty God, maker of Heaven and Earth, & And my body to the Earth, in full Afsurance of its Resurrection at the last day.
- As to my Worldly a estate I give and bequeath in the Manner following.—— First, I will that all my (Just) debts me paid, and after that my estate, I dispose of in the following Manner, viz., First, I give to my beloved Sons Robert English, and Jonathan English their Heirs, and Afsigns forever, all that Track of Land, Whereon I know live, and Dwell, to be equally divided between them both, Together with all my Stock of Cattle, Hogs Horses &, Also my Household furniture of every description Whatever, also my plantation Utensils, Wagon, Plows, &, &,. - -
- 2dly I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth McDonald, Five Shillings.
- 3dly I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann McDonald, the Sum of Five Shillings.
- 4thly I give and bequeath to my three Sons, Robert English, Thomas English, and Jonathan English, the Following Negros, and their Ifsue for ever. (viz.) Negroe fellows Clara, and Matt, negroe Weomen, and their Children (viz.) Cloe, Lucy, and her child Harry, Diana and her Son Joe. - - The above mentioned Seven Negroes, Shall be divided Equally, Share and Share alike betwixt my aforesaid three Sons, (Viz.) Robert English, Thomas English, Jonathan English. - -
- 5thly and lastly I give and Bequeath to my Sons Robert English, and Jonathan English, a Negroe Wench named Phillis, over and above their Dividend, of aforesaid Seven Negores, (Viz.) Clara, Matt, Cloe, Lucy, Harry, Diana and Joe.- - - - ,
- And I do hereby Constitute, and appoint my aforesaid Two Sons Robert English, and Jonathan English, Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. - In Witnefs whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal this Twenty First day of January, In the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and five. .- - - And of the Independence of the United States of America, the Twenty Ninth
