Transcription of Will of John Falconer:

In the Name of God Amen the 28th day of July in the year of our Lord 1739 I John Falconar of the County of Chown. Planter Being very sick and weak in body but of Perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore, calling unto mind the mortallity of my body and knowing tht it is Appointed for all men once to Die Do make and Ordaine This my Last Will and Testament: That is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it to me, and my body, I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner; at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named; nothing Doubting but att the Generall Resurrection I shall receive the same againe by the Mighty Power of God, and as -- touching such Worldy Estate, wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life. I Give, Devise, and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Imprimis my Will is that all my Just and Lawfull Debts be first Paid by my Executrix.

Secondly I Give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Falconar Twelve pence to be Paid by my Executrix by reason he haveing a good Estate in land and I have younger Chilldren That care must taken for them.

Thirdly I Give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Frazier Twelve pence to be paid her by my Executrix for the Same reasons aforesaid.

Fourthly I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Falconar one cow and calf one yew and lamb one feather bead and Boulster one Wooling Wheel and one linning wheel one wooling wheel and pewter dish one bason.

Fifthly I give unto Hester Gravenor one Cow and Calfe and one yew and lamb one feather bead and boulster one linning wheel one wooling wheel one pewter dish one bason.

Sixthly I Give and bequeath unto my Son George Falconar After his mothers decease all my lands and all the rest of the Estate real and personall and if in case my Son George Falconar should Die without Issue or Heirs that then Said Estate both real and personall shall fall to Ann Falconar and Hester Gravenor After the Death of Their Mother Equally to be divided between them both.

Seventhly I Give and bequeath unto my loveing wife Sarah Falconar the work of negro Tom dureing her widow And ye whole mannagement of the whole Estate real and personall to be used at her discretion Dureing her widdowhood and if she marrieth thento return to George Falconar as aforesaid all ye lands and the remainder part of ye moveable Estate only her things.

Eightly I Do constitute make and ordain my well beloved Wife Sarah Falconar my only and Sole Executrix of this my last Will & Testament and I doe hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all & every other former Testaments, Wills, Legacies, and Executors, by me in any ways before this time named, Willed and bequeathed, Ratifying and Confirming this, and no other, to be my last Will and Testament.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written

Signed, Sealed, Published, Pronounced, and Declared by the said John Falconar as his last will and Testament in the Presence of the Subscribers
