In the Name of God Amen the
three and twenteth daie of November 1625 in the
first yeare of our Sovriaigne lord Charles King
of England France Scotland and Ireland
Defender of ye faith I John
Fitlin ye elder of Hingham in ye countie of
Norffolk yeoman beinge in p[er]fect remembrance
blessed be god, doe ordaine and make my last wll
and testament in manner and forme as followeth
Imprimis I doe humblie bequeath & commend
my sowle unto ye mercifull handes of god my
heavenlie father trustinge to be saved onelie for
and by the precious blood death and merrits of
Jesus Christe my blessed Saviour through
ye sanctification of the holighost and my boddie to
the grave, where it shall please god to call me, look-
inge and waiteinge for ye blessed resurrection there-
of with the life Item I give to the poore people of
Hingham aforesaid the sume of fortie shillnges
the same to be distributed amongst them ye have most
need, accordeinge to the discretion of my executor
within one yeare after my decease Item I give to
Phillis my sister, now wife of Thomas Dyman
of Hingham aforesaid, an annuitie of ten shillings
a yeare, to be paid yearelie into her owne handes
everie yeare dureinge her naturall life, Alwaies
Provided That if the said Thomas Dyman
doe at anie time Challenge or make claime to the

said annuitie then my minde is, & I will that
the said annuitie shall from thenceforth ceast and
be utterlie void, and ye same legacie of none effect at
all, Item I give unto Alice my welbeloved wife
the best featherbed with ye furniture thereunto
belonginge w[i]th were hers before our marriage
and also the bedstead, whereon the said bed doth
now lye, standinge in the haullchamber, one litle
table in ye parlour, two platters, the new ketle
and *****and one trundle bed stead furnished
for a servant and also my browne cowe
Item I give unto Rose Cock two small platters
and to Edward Cock one small platter, Item I
give and bequeath to Edward Fitlin my younger
sonne, his executour administrator or assignes the
sume of thirtie poundes of lawfull money of england
to be paid in manner and forme as followeth in the
South portch of ye parish church of Hingham
aforesaid that is to saie, the sume of three pounds
within two yeares next after ye daie of my buriall
and twentie poundes within ix years next after ye
daie of my buriall Item I give and bequeath unto
Marie Cock my grandchlde ye daughter of Ed-
mond Cock my sonne in lawe the summe of xxxli of
lawfull money of England to be paid at two severall
and equall portions in the church portch of Hingham
aforesaid, that is to saie, fifteene poundes at the full

(full) age of one and twentie yeares, and other fifteene
poundes, when she the said Marie Cocke shall accom-
plishe her age of two and twentie yeares, Provided
alwaies and my minde is that my said sonne in
lawe Edmond Cock shall within one month after
my decease, uppon reasonable request made to him
by my executors seale and deliver a generall acquit-
tance to my said executor of all and all manner
of demandes whatsoever, from me the said John-
Fitlin the elder, or else that the said legacie of xxxli
to be utterlie void and of none effect Item I give
and bequeath to Thomas Fitlin my grandchilde
and Marie Fitlin my grandchilde, being my
sonne John Fitlines children the sume of twentie
shillinges a peece to be paid unto them at their
severall ages of one and twenty yeares Item
my minde is and I also will that if my executor
doe either refuse to prove this my will and testament
or shall after ye p[ro]bate thereof make defaulte in
paiemente of all or anie such legacies as in this
my will I have given and bequeathed to my sonne
Edward Fitlin, and to my grandchilde Marie
Cock or to either of them That then (it)
shall and maie be lawfull for my said sonne Edward
and the said Marie or their assignees or either of
them with shall so be disappointed and unpaid
in whole or in p[ar]te to enter into my five several
inclosures lyinge together nere St Allon**
feild in Hingham aforesaid and to possess ye said

closes and take ye profitts of all and everie the said
(illegible) his or her propper use and behoofe untill
such time as he or she shall respectively be fullie
satisfied their said legacies accordeinge to the true
intendment of this my will with convenient
dammages and under ye proviso aforesaid Item
I doe ordaine and make John Fitlin my sonne execut[or]
of this my last will and testament, And I doe give
and bequeath unto my said sonne John Fitlin, and to
his heires and assignees forever all my messuages
landes and tenements howses meadowes pastures &
hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever (illegible)
And I doe also give unto the said John Fitlin (illegible)

and implements of howsehold and husbandry withall
my bondes bills debtes duties and demandes what (illegible)
ungiven and unbequeathed towardes ye paiement of my
debts and legacies probate and p[er]forminge of this
my will and testament and the buriyeinge of my bodie

hand and seale to these p[re[sents the 23th daie of
