This is a transcription of the register copy of the will of John Garrett of "Ullestropp" (Ullesthorpe) in the parish of "Clebrocke" (Claybrooke), Leicestershire, England. John had his will drawn up on 1 December 1638, and it was proved four months later on 28 March 1639 at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. [1]

of December One Thousand sixe hundred thirtie Eighte I John Garrett of
Ullestropp in the parish of Clebrocke [2] in the County of Leicester yeoman, whole
in mynde and of good remembrance thankes be to god but aged and diseased in
body / I doe make this my last Will and Testament in forme Following First I
bequeath my soule into the hands of the Allmightie God hopeing to be saved by the
merits of Jesus Christ my onely Saviour and my body I will be buryed in the
Church of Clebrocke, And as for my worldly goods / I will disposes them thus
Imprimis:
I give and bequeath unto my wife Jone Garrett her Chest and a Bedd unto herselfe
and the hangings and furniture belonging thereto /
Item I give and bequeath unto
my sonne John Garrett One halfeyarde lande within the Feilds of Ullestropp and
some certaine Lands and Leyes lying in One Feildeof Creeke within the County of
Northampton, Allsoe I give unto him the sume of One Hundred pounds and it to be
paid him within Three yeares after my decease

[Probate in Latin] this will written about was proved at London before the Venerable Sir Henry Marten knight Doctor of Laws at a Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury constituted on the twenty eighth day of March AD 1639. Judgement granted to Joanne Garret and Thomas Garret the executors named in the will, who were granted the administration of all and singular the goods and credits of the said deceased having first been sworn to well and faithfully administer the same before Reginald Burden Clerk
