This is a transcription of the register copy of the will of John Lincolne, yeoman of Wymondham, 1671.
It was written on 24 May 1671 and proved on the 6 July at the Archdeaconry Court of Norfolk. [1]

of Norff yeoman although infirme in Body
yett of perfect minde & remembrance God be
praised for it revoakeing all former wills &
Testaments by me made doe make & ordaine this
my last will & Testament in manner following
Item first I give & bequeath that house & p[re]isses
w[hi]ch I purchased of Henry Blackbourne now in the
occupac[i]on of the wid[ow] Lincolne, & that house &
Premisses which I purchased of Simon Breese
now in the use of the widow Moore unto Frances
my wife dureng the terme of her naturall
life in lewe of her right of Dower or Thirds
in the residue of my Reall Estate & that w[hi]ch I have
sold shee keepeing the said houses & premisses in
good & tennantable repaire And comitting
noe estrip nor wast thereupon
Item I give
& bequeath unto the said Francis my wife five
pounds of lawfull English money to be paid by
my Executor hereafter herein named w[i]thin
six monethes next after my decease And alsoe I
give unto the said Frances my wife that bedstead
w[i]th the beding whereon Lock[2] lieth one Coffer one
box one li[tt]le livery Cubberd one great back
Chaire one paire of sheetes one brass pott w[i]th
a hole in it one brass kettle & one brass skillett
to have the use of all these things during her

unto the s[ai]d Frances my wife for terme of her
n[atu]rall life & after her decease unto the s[ai]d John
Lincoln my brothers sonne & his heires for
ever
Item I give & bequeath unto Will[ia]m Inble of
Wymondham aboves[ai]d the younger forty shillings to
buy him a ring
Item I give unto Thomas Stiles
sonne of Edward Stiles of Wymondham afores[ai]d yeoman
one Coult or thirty shillings in money

all the residue of my Cattells goods & chattelles shall
w[i]thin six monethes next after my decease be by my
ex[e]cutor hereafter herein named sold & the money
w[hi]ch shall arise thereof be disposed of as followes First
I will that if the mother of the s[ai]d John Lincolne
my brothers sonne shall assugne & yeild up the
nurture & education of the s[ai]d John Lincolne to my
Ex[ecu]tore Then I give unto her forty shillings

give unto the s[ai]d Edward Stiles the some of five
pounds for his paines which he is to take discharge
of the office or executorshipp of this my will

give unto John Money late vicar of Wymondham

Item I will that tenne pounds
shalbe imployed to put the s[ai]d John Lincolne to a trade
for soone as hee shalbe fitt to be put out w[hi]ch my
desire is if it might be unto a woollchapman
And then the remainder of the money arising
of the sale of my p[er]sonall Estate I will shalbe
imployed to use & land taken for the security
thereof in the name of the s[ai]d John Lincolne my
brothers sonne & the Interest thereof to be
expended in his education during his minority
Irem I will give & bequeath unto John Page the
rent of the house wherein hee liveth for one
quarter of a yeare beginning at Midsomer
next after my decease And my desire is hee
paying his rent which hee now pay hee shall hold

Item I will & my intent
is that if the s[ai]d John Lincolne my kinsman shall
dep[ar]t this life before hee attaine to his full age
with issue Then I give the above menc[i]oned p[re]misses
to his two Sisters And if they shall dye before
they come their full age Then I bequeath the
same p[re]misses to neerest of my kindred By the
fathers side

Stiles the sole Executor of this my last will &
testament In wittnes whereof I have hereunto
sett my hand & seale the day & yeare abovesaid

Probate [translated from the Latin]
On the fifth day of the month of July 1671, in the presence of me Edward Tenison, Notary Public, at the chambers of the said Edward Tenison at St Stephen's in Norwich, personally appeared Edward Stiles, only executor named in the testament or last will previously written by John Lincolne late while he lived of Wymondham, deceased, and for specific reasons, and to do his part justly, and so that the oaths of every executor of the said testament can be brought, and Letters of Administration of all and singular the goods etc of the said deceased according to the terms of the said testament can be accepted, expressly renounces and refuses these same rights, which renunciation was requested and stated by the said Stiles according to the law etc. Thereafter, on the sixth day of the month of July 1671, before Master Isaiah Kett, clerk, Master of Arts, surrogate for the venerable and excellent man, Justinian Lewin, knight, Doctor of Laws, Commissary duly, officially and legitimately appointed in and throughout the Archdeaconry of Norfolk; Frances Lincolne, widow of the said deceased, appeared personally, to whom was said and decreed at her request, Letters of Administration of all and singular the goods etc of the said deceased, with his testament annexed and according to its terms were granted and allowed and so on to her, Frances Lincoln, widow, in due form of law, reserving any other's rights.
