Executor named in the last Will and Testament
of John Southcombe late of the same

In the name of God Amen I John Southcombe
of Vellaford in the parish of Hatherleigh in the County
of Devon Farmer do make publish and declare this my
last Will and Testament in manner following that is to
say I give devise and bequeath unto my son John Southcombe
the sum of Fifty Pounds to be paid by my Executor & residuary
legatee hereinafter named within one year after my decease Also
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Tammy Southcombe the
sum of Three hundred and fifty Pounds to be paid her by
my Executor and residuary legatee hereinafter named within one
year next after my decease And I do hereby charge all and singular
my freehold and leasehold Estates good chattels and effects
with the payment of the same legacies according accordingly Also I give
and bequeath unto my said daughter Tammy Southcombe
the best bed, bedding and furniture of the same in the parlour
chamber and the clock in the same chamber and my best
table set of china to and for her own use and benefit -
Also I give and bequeath to my son Stephen Southcombe and
to his Ex[ecut]ors Adm[inistrat]ors and Assigns all my leasehold Estate called
Bottlehams situate in the parish of Hatherleigh to and for
his own and their use and benefit during my right and interest
therein Also I give and bequeath unto my son Arthur Southcombe
and Mr. Thomas Roberts of Hatherleigh and the survivor of them
his Ex[ecut]ors and Adm[inistrat]ors All that my freehold dwelling house and
Blacksmiths shop and other premises lately purchased by me
of William Nethaway situate in Monkoakhampton in the
said County with the Appurtenances Upon trust nevertheless
to pay the rents and profits thereof unto my daughter Catherine
Bowden for her natural life & to and for her use and benefit
independent of any future husband and her receipts only to
be good and proper discharges for the same rents and profits
And from and after her decease I give and devise the same
to

to my son Arthur Southcombe To hold to him his heirs and assigns forever
Also I give and devise unto my son Arthur Southcombe and Mr. Thomas
Roberts of Hatherleigh aforesaid and to the survivor of them his Ex[ecut]ors and
Adm[inistrat]ors all that my freehold dwelling house and premises situated & adjoining
Hatherleigh Moor in the said parish of Hatherleigh and now in the occupation
of Richard [Stenlake?] with the Appurtenances To hold to them and the survivor
of them his Ex[ecut]ors and Adm[inistrat]ors Upon trust to pay the rents and profits thereof
to my daughter Mary Jewell for her natural life to and for her own proper
use and benefit independent of her present or any future husband and her
receipts only to be good and proper discharges for the same rents & profits
And from and after her decease I give and devise the same unto my said
son Arthur Southcombe To hold to him his heirs and assigns forever But
I hereby direct my said trustees Arthur Southcombe and Thomas Roberts
in case either of the said dwelling houses and premises last mentioned shall
be in want of repair they are to repair the same accordingly and deduct the
expenses thereof from the rents of the same (John Southcombe) respectively
during the respective lives of my said daughters Catherine Bowden and
Mary Jewell Also I give devise and bequeath unto my said son Arthur
Southcombe and Thomas Roberts and to the survivor of them his Ex[ecut]ors and Adm[inistrat]ors
the sum of Fifty pounds to be paid by my Executor and residuary legatee
hereinafter named within twelve months after my decease In trust nevertheless
for the sole use and benefit of my daughter Mary Jewell independent of her present
or any future husband And my said trustees are hereby directed to put out to
Interest the said sum of Fifty Pounds on security and the Interest arising
therefrom to pay to my said daughter Mary Jewell independent of her present or any future
husband and her receipts only to be good and proper discharges for the same And I
further direct that the said sum or principal of fifty Pounds shall be kept whole
and entire and under the control and management of my said trustees during the life
of my said daughter Mary Jewell and at her decease the same shall be equally divided
share and share alike among her remaining children And in case she should have
no child at the time of her death then the said fifty Pounds shall become the
sole property of my said son Arthur Southcombe his Ex[ecut]ors Adm[inistrat]ors
and

and Assigns All the rest residue and remainder of any
freehold and leasehold Estates monies and securities for
money goods chattels and effects whatsoever and wheresoever
of which I may happen to die possessed of I give devise and bequeath
unto my said son Arthur Southcombe To hold to him his heirs
executors Administrators and assigns and for his and their
own use and benefit And lastly I do hereby nominate
constitute constitute[sic] and appoint my said son Arthur
Southcombe the sole Executor of this my last Will and
Testament hereby revoking all former Will and Wills by
me at any time heretofore made and declaring this only
to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof
I the said testator John Southcombe have to this my
last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of
paper to the first thereof set my hand and to this second
and last sheet thereof my hand and seal this nineteenth
day of February One thousand eight hundred and
twenty four –
