This is a transcription of the original will of Lawrence Collin Gentleman, of Nottingham. Lawrence drew up his will on 29 March 1700. It was proved at the Archdeaconry Court of Nottingham on 9 January 1704/5, and is filed at the Nottinghamshire County Archives with the Archdeaconry wills for the year 1705. [1]

constitute & appoint this my last Will & Testament in manner & forme following that

I give to my son Abell Collin one hundred pounds
I alsoe give to my daughter Fortune Smith fifty pounds
I alsoe give to her five children five ten pounds a peice,
I alsoe give to my grandson Abell Collin fifty pounds & I alsoe give to his sister my grand daugh=ter Clifton fifty pounds
I alsoe give to his mother my daughter in law Elizabeth Collin of Yarmouth five pounds
I alsoe give to my son Thomas Collin five ten pounds & I alsoe
give to his son John Collin & to Mary his wife five pounds a peice
I alsoe give to his son my grandson Thomas Collin fifty pounds.

& I give to the Widdow of my late Cozen Thomas Banckes five pounds
I alsoe give to my Cozen Hannah Brittaine seaven pounds to be payd her by twenty shillings a yeare
I alsoe give to my Cozen Mary Hutchinson of Kneesall five pounds
I alsoe give to my s[ai]d son Abell Collin five pounds to be disposed of as he shall thing [3] fit;
I alsoe give to my Cozen Cooper widdow who lives now in the house with me one pounds
I alsoe give to my servant Bridget one pounds & I alsoe give to William Fishwick: ten shillings & I alsoe give
to my daughter Smiths two mayd servants ten shillings a peice
I alsoe give to Mary Peirson ten shillings
I alsoe give to the poore of the parish of St Nicholas in Nottingham five
pounds to be distributed to such persons as my Executors hereafter named shall
thinke fitt:
All the rest of my good & chattells not disposed of as afters[ai]d after my
debts & funerall Expenses are discharged (Except my house hold goods) I give to Anne
Collin my deare wife; & alsoe the use of the s[ai]d household goods for her life & after her
decease I give all my s[ai]dhousehold goods to my s[ai]d two sons Thomas Collin & Abell
Collin whome I make my Executors of this my last will & Testament & I leave the
managem[en]t of my funerall wholey to them & I alsoe leave the payment of all the afores[ai]d
legacyes to to my s[ai]d Executors soe they be payd w[i]thin any time w[i]thin three yeares after
my decease In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale this 29th day
of March Anno D[o]m[in]i 1700.
