In the name of God Amen
This is the last Will and Testament of me Pheby Levy' of
Leicester Place Leicester Square in the County of Middlesex widow First I
give and bequeath to the Wardens and Treasurer for the time being of the Sy
nagogue now carries on at St Albans Place, Haymarket in the County of Middle
sex the sum of fifty pounds to be paid to the said Wardens or Treasurer within one
year after my decease and out of my personal estate and to be applied by them
for and towards the usual purposes of the said synagogue And I do request that
the reader of the said Synagogue will once in every year at the Jewish Festival
called Shiva ..... say on my behalf a Yizkor or prayer for the dead and I do
further bequeath unto the said Wardens or other officers for the time being the large
portrait of my brother Myer Solomons deceased which portrait I request may
be hung up and kept in the vestry now of the said Synagogue but in case the
said Congregation of the said Synagogue should be dissolved then I desire and re-
quest that the said portrait of my said brother may be delivered to the Wardens of
the New Synagogue situate in Saint Albans Place Bishopsgate in the City of
London and kept in the vestry room of the said Synagogue. And I also give and
bequeath unto the Treasurer for the time being of the Western Institution for the
aiding and educating Jewish boys the sum of fifty pounds to be paid to the Tea-
surer for the time being within one year from my decease from and out of my
personal estate and to be by him applied to and for the use and benefit and pur-
poses and intents of the said Charity and I do request Mr Nathaniel Levy my
Executor herinafter named to procure some fatherless boy to say the prayer for
me called Kaddish And I do give and bequeath unto such boy as shall be nom-
inated by the said Nathaniel Levy and shall say or use the Prayer called
Kaddish the sum of ten pounds to and for his own use which said sum the
said Nathaniel Levy shall be at liberty to pay over unto the said boy although
he may not be of age or unto any friend on his behalf.
And I give and be-
queath unto Mrs Betsy Isaacs the wife of Michael Isaccs of St Georges in
the East Watchmaker the sum of Nineteen guineas
And I give unto my
Cousin Mr Isaac Barnett now residing at Bristol one pair of silver candle-
sticks one pair od silver snuffers and tray and the portrait of my father and
also Ten pounds And I give and bequeath unto his father Mr
Barnett the reader of the Burial Service to the Saint Albans Place Synagogue
Nineteen pounds nineteen shillings and in case he should happen to depart this
life before me then I give the said sum of Nineteen pounds nineteen shillings
so bequeathed to him unto his daughter Matilda Barnett
And I give and be-
queath unto Solomon Fredman? Susan Fredman and .... Fredman the
children of Isaac and Jane Fredman of Romford [5] the sum of Nineteen pounds
nineteen shillings each and I do further give unto the said .... Fredman
who is now residing with me four silver table spoons marked R.D.S. a pair of
silver salt cellars gilt inside and standing on three legs with the spoons now
in my possession And I give and bequeath unto Mrs Jane Fredman his
wife the life sum of Nineteen guineas
And I give and bequeath unto Mr
Nathaniel Levy of Brompton Square Middlesex my Executor hereinafter appoin
ted a mourning ring two of my Hebrew books ..... a Passover Service and
a ....... and my pair of silver gilt salt cellars on bowls weighing about twelve
ounces
And I give unto Mr Daniel Levy of the Kent Road the following books ........
the five books of Moses three Hebrew books containing the prayers for the year
six silver table spoons one silver ladle six silver dessert spoons
I give to Mr
Abraham Septimus Hart of Knightsbridge a mourning ring And to Mrs Hart
his wife I give and bequeath the minature of my husband set in gold six table

I give unto Mr Henry Collins
And as to all other family portraits or pictures of which I may be possessed I re-
quest that my Executor hereinafter appointed will not allow the same to be sold
but either retain them for his own use or give them unto such person or persons
as he may think proper. I give all such freehold or leasehold and other estates
and part and shares of freehold or leasehold and other estates as I am or may
by an Decree of the Court of Chancery or any other Court be declared to belon-
... of my late brother Myer Solomons late of Pall Mall in the County of
Middlesex deceased unto Jonas? Levy of 32 Brompton Square in the County
of Middlesex and Lewis Levy of the same place and also of 77 King William
Street London their heirs executors administrators and assigns in joint tenancy
And I nominate constitute and appoint Mr Nathaniel Levy of 32 Brompton
Square in the County of Middlesex sole Executor of this my Will and I
request that he will on the day of my funeral distribute or cause to be distri-
buted among poor persons of the Jewish persuasion the sum of Eight pounds
four shillings no individual tohave less than one shilling and six pence but
it shall be in the power of my Executor to extend the above sum of One shil-
ling and six pence to such person or persons as he shall think proper and I direct my
Executor to distribute the further sum of Eight pounds one shilling among
poor individuals the day my tombstone is set And I request to have a tomb
stone set for me as similar as possible to that of my dear brother Myer
Solomons And after payment and satisfaction of all the before mentioned leg-
cies and other bequests and all my debts and funeral testamentary and other ex-
penses I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my
goods chattells estate and effects of what nature kind or description soever not
hereinbefore given o bequeathed unto and equally between my Cousin the
said Isaac Barnett of Bristol the said Jonas Levy of Brompton Square and
the said Lewis Levy of Brompton Square and King William Street aforesaid
their heirs executors and assigns share and share alike
In witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand this Thirty first day of August in the year
our our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty one - Pheby
Levy - PL in the presence of us present at the same time who at her request in
witness of the bequest to Mr Isaac Fredman in page 2 having been first
erased and the word Susman introduced instead of Susanah Fredman
