In dei nomine amen I Richarde Slade of the
parrishe of Bromham in the County of Wiltes[hire] yeoman being in perfect minde and memorye
thanck[es] be to Almighty god Doe make this my Last will and testament in manner and forme
following First I bequeathe my sowle to the Almighty god And my bodye to be buryed in the
Churche or churchyarde of Bromham etc[etera] First I bequeathe unto William Longe sonne of
Thomas Longe of Semingetonne in the County of Wiltes[hire] seaven acres whereof six and a halfe
errable and one halfe of meadowe one yearde, in Poulsed Swellowe mede and the other parte in
Rowdes Swellowe meade / Item I bequeathe and give to Edward Longe sonne of Thomas Longe

of Semington all suche Righte title state interest or terme of yeares as I the said Richard Slade
aforesaid have had or ought to have in one Lease bought by John Slade and I the saide Richard of
Thomas Longe There of the parrishe of Caulne scituate Lying and being within the parrishe of
Wesbury knowne and called by the name of Hewewoode al[ia]s Haywoode[2] nowe in the tenure or occupac[i]on
of one William Button Esquyer with one [band] whiche the said Thomas standeth bounde to the
saide Richard and John for the enioying thereof / Item I give and bequeathe to every one of the children
of Thomas Slade of Hilprington[3] my brother twoe sheepe to eache of them apeece / Also I bequeathe
to every one of the children of my brother John Slade one sheepe apeece, Item I give and bequeathe
to Joane Waighte of the Devys[es][4] twenty shilling[es] / Also I bequeathe and give to William Anstes
the sonne of John Anstes of Bromham one Cowe / Item I give and bequeathe to Agnes
Anstes one Cowe / Item I give to the Children of Thomas Longe of Semingetonne namely
Anne Jane and Marye one Cowe apeece to eache of them Item I give and bequeathe to Robert
Longe all suche Interest as I the saide Richard Slade have in one meade in Rowde parrishe
Item I give and bequeathe to the churche of Bromham five shilling[es] And to the poore of the
saide parrishe there twenty shilling[es] to be devided by the Churchwardens or overseers there / Item
I give and bequeathe to every of my godchildren xijd apeece to eache of them / Item for all the
Rest of my goods cattell moveable or ell[se] whatsoever belongeth to me due I the said Richard
Slade doe give and bequeathe and give it to my brother William Slade whome I make and
appointe my executo[r] And Thomas Longe and William Hancock whome I make my overseers
herein / Also I give to my saide overseers to this my Last will and testament to eache of them tenne
shilling[es] In wittnesse hereof I the said Richard Slade to this my Last will and testament
haue putto my hand and subscribed my name the nyneth daye of December in the seaven and
twentith yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Ladye Elizabeth by the grace of god, of
England France and Ireland Quene Defendresse of the faithe etc[etera] / 1584 / Richard
Slade his marke / Signed and delivered in the presence of those whose names are under
written Robert Edmond[es] wryter hereof Thomas Longe / William Hancock[es] marke /
