Will of Sarah Cayley of Sowerby, Yorkshire, dated 13 April 1857

This is the last will and testament of me Sarah Cayley of Sowerby near Thirsk in the County of York spinster I give and devise all that the part share and other the right and interest of and in the manors messuages lands tenements and real estate with the appurtenances situate in the township or parishes of Stokeseley Swinton Repton Sowerby or elsewhere in the county of York of which I or any person or persons in trust for me shall be seized possessed or entitled to at my decease and of what nature or tenure soever and over which I have power to dispose by the my will (except mortgage and trust estates) unto my dear brother and sister Cornelius John Cayley and Ann Elizabeth Favell their respective heir executors administrators and assigns according to the nature and quality thereof respectively in equal shares as tenants in common and not as joint tenants absolutely I give and bequeath all my money and securities for money shares trinkets and other my personal effects whatever (except chattels real included in the aforesaid devise of my real estate) unto my affectionate niece Agnes Favell absolutely subject nevertheless to the payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the expense of proving and registering this my will I give devise and bequeath all the estates which are vested in me at my decease upon any trust or by way of mortgage and over which I have power to dispose by this my will unto the said Cornelius John Cayley and Ann Elizabeth Favell their heirs executors administrators and assigns according to the quality thereof respectively upon the trusts and subject to the equities affecting the same and upon payment of the money secured upon mortgage to pay and apply the value as part of my aforesaid personal estate I revoke make void all wills made by me at any time heretofore and declare this only to be and contain my last will and testament and of it I appoint the said Cornelius John Cayley and Ann Elizabeth Favell Executor and Executrix In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven in the presence of the undersigned witnesses.

Witnesses: John Richardson, solicitor, Thirsk; Ann Belwood, Sowerby.

Proved at York 29 April 1857 and at London 7 May 1857.
