Will of Thomas Bransby
In the name of God amen I Thomas Bransby of Redonhall in
Harleston in the County of Norffolk Esq Doe hereby make my last will in
manner following that is to say First I consign unto Bridgett my wife the
joynture I made as follows upon her before marriage of all my estate in B.....
my house in Harleston and my house in ........? and by reason I have had a
son by her since my intermarriage with her therefore that she may thus
better support and maintain him I give her forty pounds a year to assuaging
out of the rents and. of the small profits of my farm called Thorphall farm in the
County of Suffolk during so long time as she be herself a widow and no longer .And
then I give the said forty pounds a year to.my son Astley Bransby towards his
maintenance and education until such time as he attains the age of five and
twenty years and then I give the Thorphall Farm to the said Astley Bransby
and the sons and heirs of his body and for want of such sons I give those Thorphall
Farm to Thomas my son and his heirs for ever Item I give to Bridgett my wife
all her wearing apparrell and all her paraphenalia and all the personal estate
The......... with her .... five hundred pounds which is in her brother's hands
due to me with other moneys from her said brother her ........ Item I give to
William my son all my lands and tenements in Redenhall to him and his heirs
for ever in ..... and satisfaction and in full discharge of the thousand pound
legacy given him in and by the last will and testament of his late grandfather
Mr Robt Bransby esq. Item I give the rents and profits of my Thorphall
Estate to be .... and ..... annually by Mr Daniel Sayers and my Clerk Samuel
Wright and thereby direct forty pounds thereof to be paid
as is herein before directed and the residue thereof I give to be equally
divided between my five youngest children towards their better maintenance
and education but I bare? cutting down of timber and counting any ........ upon
my said Thorphall Farm save only that there are three or four walls? of
wood and trees which I have ..... Mr Francis Reader which I would have
cutt down and sold to raise money where by to buy suitable timber to finish
the park there. I give the timber at potters pitt thereof for that
purpose ...... thereof ..... as is ...... to finish this park
whether it be stored? and for that I am satisfied it will be much better
for a tenant. Item I give to Bridgett my wife my .... and a pair of my
coach horses to choose where she pleases Item I give the use of my
household stuff and those of my implements of household to be used in the
houses they now stand during the term of four years by Bridgett my
wife if she continues so long a widow and she and my children shall agree and
live together in my house Item I give to the Thomas my son all thereof of my
real estate of total natures? kind soever to the said Thomas making up to
my four younger children together with what their grandfather gave
them two hundred pounds apiece But my will is that the rents and
profitts of such shall real estate given to my son Thomas as aforesaid shall be
received and taken by the said Daniel Sayer and Samuel Wright and applyed to
the education and maintenance of my younger children as well as for the
support of the saidThomas my son untill he shall attain his age of one and
twenty years Item I make the said Thomas my son and Mr Daniel Sayer Exors
thereof and my old friend Robt. Buxton? Esq supervisor hereof and I desire
my family should be guided by him and in Daniel Sayer ffurther I desire that
all my court (account?) books should be fairly made up by Mr Sayer at my expense and
delivered to their respective owners and my further desire is that if there
shall be anything in dispute in any matters or thing which I myself have
transacted that if any doubts arise my desire is that it should be given
..... and my estate or household? .... be of a different opinion. Item I
desire that the said Mr Daniel Sayer and my Clerk Samuel Wright ..... into
both my studies att Shottisham and Harleston and take care of my books
and papers there and such books and papers as are here I give to my son
William and such as are at Shottisham I give to my son Thomas And I
desire Mr Daniel Sayer and my Clerk Samuel Wright may be well paid
for their care and trouble in thses undertakings And I further give
to my son Thomas all other my personall estate whatsoever In
Witness whereof I have to this my Will containing two sheets of
paper set my hand to each sheet and my seal to this last this 14th day of
January 1725.
Signed sealed constituted and named and declared by
Mr Thomas Bransby for his last will and testament in
the presence of us who hereunto sett our
names as witnesses in the presence of Thomas Teflor
