This is a transcription of the original will of Thomas Collin, gentleman of Nottingham. Thomas had his will drawn up on 15 January 1706/7 and it was proved at the Archdeaconry Court of Nottingham on 15 February 1709/10. [1]

I Thomas Collin of The Towne & County of The Towne of Nottingham Gent Doe make constitute & ordaine
this my last Will & Testament in Manner & Forme Following (that is to say) I give to my Sister Smith one
Guinney & to mr Geo Langford Sen[io]r One Guinney & to his Son mr George Langford jun[io]r Five Guinnys & to his Daughter
& my Daughter in Law mrs Mary Collin twenty Guinneys to be at her own disposall; I alsoe Give to all
the Children th[a]t my S[ai]d Daughter hath or shall have by my Son John Collin (either before or after my Decease)
the Sum of One Thousand pounds to be Equally Divided amongst them; Yet Soe as my Grandson Abell
Collin have a Double pro portion thereof against any One of the rest & my Will is th[a]t my Exeq[ueto]r herein
hereafter Named shall be Accountable to them from the Expiration of the first Year after my decease
for all the Interest of the said Thousand Pounds after the rate of four pounds p[er] Cent p[er] Ann[um] for & untill
they severally Marry or attain unto the Age of One & twenty Years Apeice
I alsoe Give to my Sister
Collin of Yarmouth One Guinney to buy her A Mourning Ring with if she please; I alsoe Give to
Richard the Son of Mary Hotchkiss of Shrewsbury the Daughter of John Hubbert late of Brewhouse
Yard near Nottingham the Sum of five pounds but in case he should happen to Dye before me
I then Give the said five pounds to his Mother if she be then Liveing
I alsoe Give to Thomas Ward
if he Live with me at my Death the Sum of five pounds towards buying him Mourning; I alsoe Give
to my tennants at Elton the Sum of One hundred pounds to be distributed aMongst them According
to the discretion of my Executor herein hereafter Named, towards the paying of the Arrears of
Rent; Yet my Will is that Neither mr Selby nor Richard Burrows nor Francis Booth nor either
of the Children of Mary Nixon shall have any share or part thereof unless my Executor shall
think fitt but my Will is th[a]t those tennants of mine th[a]t Sitt Rent free Shall have some small
part of the said One hundred pounds According as my Executor shall judge meet
I alsoe Give to
the Poor of Snt Mary Parrish in Nottingham five pounds to be distributed amongst them by the
ChurchWardens & Overseers of the Said Parrish as my Executor hereafter named shall advise & direct
I alsoe Give to the Poor of St Peeter Parrish in Nottingham afforesaid the Sum of four pounds
& to the Poore of Snt Nicholas Parrish in the S[ai]d towne of Nottingham the Sum of five pounds
to be alsoe distributed Amongst them by the Church Wardens & Overseers of the Poor of Each Parrish
As my Executor hereafter Named shall advise & Direct
I alsoe Give to the Poor of the Brewhouse
Yard & to Warrinor & Over bury the Sum of twenty shillings to be Divided amongst them by my
Executor I alsoe Give to the Poor of the Parrish of Snt Mary in Norwich the Sum of Fourty
shillings to be Distributed amongst them According to the discretion of my Executor I alsoe Give
to the Poore of the Parrish in Northampton where I was Born the Sum of fourty shillings to be
distributed amongst them as my Executor shall direct
I alsoe Give to Sarah Hoslor of Elton
aforesaid the Sum of twenty shilling A Year for Seaven Years in case she So long Live; I alsoe
Give to mr Simpson Minnister of Snt Nicholas Church in Nottingham afores[ai]d One Guinney. I alsoe
Give to Wm Fishwick the Sum of twenty shillings I alsoe Give to Lewiss Beardsly Mary Gre[en]
& [blank] twenty shillings Apeice in case they shall Live with my Son at my Death
