This is a transcript of the will of Thomas Cornwall, 14th Baron Cornewall of Burford. The will was written on the 10th of July 1686, Thomas died shortly after and was buried in Burford, Shropshire, England on the 22nd of July the same year. The will was proved at Hereford on the 22nd of February, 1687/88 by his wife Anne (Reade) Cornewall. [1]

In the name of God Amen
I Thomas Cornewall Esqr. and Baron of Burford in the County of
Salop being weake in body but of a sound memory and understanding Doe
ordaine and constitute this my last Will and Testament in manner and
forme following Imprimis I bequeath my Soule in the hands of Al-
Mighty God trusting through the merritts of my Saviour to obtain eternall
Eternall Salvation and my body to be buryed in Christian Buriall, And
as to the disposall of my worldly Estate,
ist I give devise and bequeath unto
My Daughter Mary Cornewall and her heires for over All that Barne,
Stables and beast houses and ground thereunto belonging formerly purchased
by me of Mr Weaver of Aymstrey and scituate and lyeing neare Stapleton
Castle in the parish of Presteigne and County of Hereford, only reserving
a power for my Sonn and heire Thomas Cornewall to repurchase the
same upon the payeont of Threescore pounds of lawfull money of England
To the said Mary within one yeare after my Decease
Item I give devise
and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Inwood of London and her
heires for ever the Rent and Reversion of two parcells of land lately pur-
chased of and now leased to William Wyer in the parish of Eastham and
County of Worcester, only reserving a power for my foresaid Sonn Thomas
Cornewall to repurchase the same upon the payment of Twenty pounds of
lawfull money of England to the said Elizabeth within one yeare after my
Decease
Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Sonn Thomas Cornewall
all the Standards in Stapleton Castle and all the standards in the Park house
And all my the standards in my Dwelling house at Burford, As for my other goods
in my said house at Burford Except only the Silver Plate, I give de-
vise and bequeath them unto my beloved wife Anne Cornewall to have
the safe of them during her life, and after her Decease to be equally divided
Between my two foresaid Daughters, or their value. And as for all other
my goods Cattles and Chattells with my debts not engaged for by my hereditary
Estate. I further give devise and bequeath them unto my said beloved wife
Anne Cornewall whom I doe ordaine and constitute sole Executrix of this
my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my
Hand and Seale this Tenth day of July Anno D[omi]ni 1686. Tho: Cornewall

Probatum [abstracted from the Latin] this will was proved at Ludlow the twenty second day of February AD 1686 before the venenerable Timothy Baldwyn. Administration of the goods etc to Anna Cornewall widow of the said deceased and Executrix named etc, having sworn before Richard Bulkley Clerk.
