In the name of the Father & of the Sonne
and of the Holy Ghoste Amen. I Thomas Grayle the unprofitable servante of
Jesus Christe dwellinge at Huntingford in the Parrishe of Wotton under edge in the
countie of Gloucester yeoman doe make and ordeine this my p[re]sent Testament &
last will in manner and forme followinge
First and especiallie before all other
thinges I doe commende and willingly go.. againe into the handew of my God my
soule w[hi]ch he of his fatherlie goodnes gave to me when he fashioned this my bodye in
my mothers wombe by this meanes makinge me a lovinge creature beinge fullye pre
suaded uppon the truwthe of his promises that he will freelie pardon and forgive my
synnes and receave me unto his mercie & that through the merits and deathe of his
only and dearlie beloved sonne Jesus Christe my alone Saviour and only Redeemer
who dyed for my synnes and rose againe for my in...... whoe is alsoe my advocate and
maketh contynnuall intercession uno his heavenlie father for me as for the rest of his chil...?
and will at the laste daie of the generall resurection come againe againe and receive us
into his eternal kingdome of glorie accordinge to his promise Math:25, wherefore I
moste humblie and hartlie thanke him that hathe by his Gospell begotten me a newe?
unto an ass...... the of eternal lief by the workinge of his Holy Spirit whereas by
nature I was nothinge but the Bondslawe of Gatham and subicte to eternal death&
condemnation yet notwithstandinge he hathe by the sorkinge of his grace and Holy Spirite
soe have given me the knowledge of my self and of my owne ...ssed estate that yett w[it]hall
he hathe washed? .... his hands of mercie unto me to the full assurance of his lovinge
........................ pardoninge my synnes and deliveringe me from this curssed state
by the merrits aforesaid concerninge my bodye I willinglie committe it to the earth from
whence it came assuring myself of the performance of his merciful promyse in raisinge
it up at the last daie and for ioyninge bothe soule and bodye together will give me the
inheritance of everlastinge lief and glorie together w[it]h his elect and deare children the

Item I give and bequeath to Mr Stannton once pastor of Wotton aforesaid Twenty shillings
a yeare to be payde unto him so longe as my Leasse of the Tithings of Huntingford endowe
by those that shall enjoy or occupie the same Leasse
Item I give and bequeathe to the Poore
of the Parishe of Wotton aforesaid Twentie shillings to be distributed where moste neede
is ymmediately after my departure by the discrecon of Mr Stannton and others.
Item I
geve and bequeathe to my daughter Jane Grayle the feesimple of Thomas Cheese
house in the parrishe of Wotton aforesaid w[it]h a Garden and one acre of Lande lienge in
Edbroke by the same house belonginge six shillinges five pence of chief rent due from
William Trottman John Biddle Edwarde Wallington and John Taylor all of the p[ar]ishe
of Wotton aforesaid and ....... of lande and pasture lienge in Barnefield and Edbroke
in ...ford ...... wotton? nowe holdeth by Leasse under the rent of Twenty shillinges
by the yeare ..
Item I geve to the sayde Jane Grayle and to hir heires forev[er] w[it]h the rent?

feesimple of two leasses of arrable and pasture called or knowne by the name of Borowhill

the parisshe of Wotton aforesaid & North Nibley w[it]h the deeds thereto belonginge and the

and wrightinges I give to the said Sarah Grayle and to her heires forever> Alsoe I give
to the foresaid Sarah twoe frames of silver and all suche goodes as already is hir due
Item I give and bequeathe to my daughter Abigal Graile the feesimple of all such landes
w[hi]ch Richard Smithe of Wotton aforesaid nowe holdeth of my by Leasse under the rent
of fower and twentie shillinges by the yeare to heir and to hir heires forev[er] together w[i]th
the fower copies of all suhe wrightinges as to the same landes belongeth and fourtie
poundes in money. All w[hi]ch landes before given I late purchased of Dame Elizabeth
Barkley of Bradley als Strangewayes widdowe Richard Barkley of Stoke Gifford
countie of Gloucester Esquire John Seede and Edwarde Seede his sonne
gentleman and Sr Thomas Escourte? of Lasborowe? in the countie aforesaid knighte
together w[i]th other landes as in my deede more playnlie appeareth

toThomas Grayle the sonne of Edmunde Graile my sonne the feesimple of one closse
of pasture called by the name of Spittlecrofte conteyning by estimation fower acres
be it more or lesse bienge in the parrishe of North Nibley the w[hi]ch grounde one William
Wicks of Nibley holdeth by Leasse for the terme of thrree lives under the rent of twelve
pence by the yeare w[hi]ch said grounds or pasture I give to the foresaid Thomas Graile
and to his heires forever w[i]th tree copies of suche evidence as to the same belongeth
The residue of my landes w[hi]ch I late purchased not geven and bequeathed I geve
to Agnes my wieff to the ende it maye be soulde towardes the payment of my debts
