This is a transcript of the original will of Thomas Woolmer, gentleman of the "Citie of Worceter" (City of Worcester). Thomas drew up his will on 12 November 1586, and it was proved at the Consistory Court of Worcester on --- 1586.


The xijth daye of November in the xxviijth
yeare of the Raigne of o[u]r Soferaigne Ladye
Elizabethe by the grace of god of England
France &c queane defenderesse of the faythe

I Thomas Woolmer of the Citie of Worceter gentleman beinge
sicke in bodye but of p[er]fecte minde & memorye, thankes bee
geaven to allmightye god, doe make & ordayne this my last
will and testament in maner and forme folowinge. First I
bequeathe my sowele unto the almightye god my maker and
redemer, and my bodye to bee buryed at the discreassione
of Anthonye Woolmer gent my brother,

Imprimis I geave
and bequeathe to Elinor my wyf all, and almaner the
goods and Chattells whiche weare hire first husbands
or her owen at anye tyme before the espousalls between
us, And alsoe the somme of xxxty pounds of lawfull
money of England to bee payed to myne executors Im
mediatlye after my deacesse, shee the sayed Elinor
discharginge mee and my executors of all suche debts
due by her or hir late husbands George Warbington

I geave & bee queathe unto Anthony Woolmer my brother
my whyte geldinge /

Item I geave and bequeathe unto
John Woolmer his sonne my greye horse, and unto my
brother John my baye geldinge /

Item I geave unto John
Chandler my sheppeard xiijs iiijd over and above th[a]t I owe
unto hime, and unto Margeret Fynche xiijs iiijd over and a
bove her wages whiche I owe hir /

Item I geave unto
John Browen fyftie pounds in full payment of all sommes
of money due at anye tyme heartofore, betweane hime &
mee /

Item I geave unto Dorothye my daughter xxLi ov[e]r
and above hir parte of the residue of my good/ all
the rest of my good chattels plate, coyne gould, silv[e]r
Juells of what nature ore propertye soever theye bee
I geave unto Anthony Wollmer and Dorothye my children
to be equallye devided betwene them / my debts and
legasies beinge first payde)

Lastlye I doe odayne
and make my sayde sonne Anthony and Dorothie Woolmer
my children my sole & onlye executors to see this my
last will & testament in every point trulye & Justlye
performed /

I alsoe appoint Anthony Woolmer my brother
and Wylliam Farst-e gentlemen my Over seers, and I geave
unto the sayd w for his paynes xxs in gould, these
beinge present Phillipp Brase, Georg Comoorde
William Dedycke w[i]th others
