This is a transcription of the original filed will of William Garett or Garrett of Hose, Leicestershire, England, a webster (weaver). William had his will drawn up on 24 April 1626, possibly by the parish priest George Fullwood who was also one of the witnesses. The will was prove at the Archdeaconry Court of Leicester on 16 May 1626. [1]

In the name of god Amen &c: I William Garett of hose in
the Countie of Leic[este]r webster [2] being sicke in bodie but of
p[er]fect memorie (praysed be god for it) do ordayne
and make this my last will in this man[n]er following
First I Com[m]end my soule to god, And I do give unto
George Thomas and Margret Garett my naturall
Chilldren the summe of 50 shillings A peece to be payd
unto them At the age of one And Twentie yeres And
if Elizabeth my wife do Chance to marrye againe
Then my will is th[a]t she shall paye unto the afforesayd
George Thomas and Margret the full summe of fyve
pound A peece even upon the daye of her marriage,

Also I do ordayne th[a]t the sayd John Garrett shall have and
enioye All th[a]t my Cottage with the demeanes p[er]tinent to
the same lying in the Towne and feilds of hose Affore
