The Lairds of Hunterston

William Huntar, 10th Laird of Hunterston, received a grant of land. The original Charter document remains at Hunterston to this day.

Granted by King Robert II of Scotland dated 1374 'For faithful services rendered to him of the lands of Ardneil to be held by the said William Huntar and heirs-male of his body of the Crown for payment of One Silver Penny at Ardneil on WhitSunday.' Srdneil is the neighbouring farm to Hunterston.
