[1]Wittmann (Solothurn), (Витманн), a German Roman Catholic colony, was established on the Öst "Wiesenseite" or east "meadow side" of the Volga River on the 3rd of August 1767. The colony was founded by Baron Caneau de Beauregard.

1769 Census: - 43 families comprised the population of 128 colonists
