Maryland has three counties in Appalachia: Allegany, Garrett, and Washington,^[2] which are in the Northern Appalachia Region.

The Maryland table on the Counties of Appalachia has links to their category pages (Category: Allegany County, Maryland, Category: Garrett County, Maryland, Category: Washington County, Maryland), none of which existed prior to 4 July 1776: Washington County was created in 1777, Allegany County was created from it in 1789, and Garrett County was created from Allegany County in 1872.^[3] The following table is for their space pages.
