History
Many Irish families buried here from 1876 to present. Lovely rural setting faces east over vineyards. Native trees and grasses lend a romantic atmosphere to the simple rectilinear layout. Many celtic crosses and biographical details inscribed on monuments. Families include Flannagan, McTaggart, Maloney and Leary. The fine engraving on headstones is unusual in a rural setting. Although the cemetery is not a dominating element in the landscape, it has landscape significance. There is also an unusual number of Irish burials but because many Irish records were destroyed in an accident in 1922, the existing physical evidence may be the only records of Irish-born buried here.
