The new Yankee Stadium is parallel to the old Yankee Stadium, between 161st & 164th Streets.
The old stadium, which opened in 1923 and was home to the history making New York Yankees saw its last game in 2008. The new stadium is set to open with a preseason game against the Cubs April 3,2009.
At a cost of over three billion dollars, the new stadium, featuring improvements from cup holders to luxury suites, is sure to be as upscale as the team itself has become. More legroom and plenty of dining options are also featured and the club is no doubt hoping to keep seats full and people happy with all the new improvements.
This is a bitter sweet moment for some New Yorkers, who look at the old stadium as a piece of history that cant be replaced by better snack options. Home of Babe Ruth and many other legends of the game, the stadium will surely be missed by those who grew up visiting the park and whose memories are there.
Please take a moment to add those memories from your visits to the stadium below. Whether you remember every stat from the day or if you only remember that your uncle James bought you three hotdogs and a soda so big you had to run to the restroom every inning!
