Purpose

This space is to catalog Revolutionary War soldiers who lived and are buried in York County Maine.

York county was established November 20, 1652, by the Massachusetts act that also incorporated the town of Kittery. The county included all of the land claimed by Massachusetts beyond the Piscataqua River, which now defines the southern boundary of Maine with New Hampshire. On June 21, 1760, York was divided by adding two new counties within it eastern area: Cumberland and Lincoln.

Can someone please add my 5th gg, Wentworth-2071? He is buried in South Berwick; cemetery is on private land and known by two different names. I have a photo of his grave I can upload to his profile. Thanks!

I added him here and on the alphabetical page as well. Please provide the alternate cemetery name for the York County Cemetery Category page.
