Youghal Town Irish or Alternate Name: Eochaill. A walled seaport town on the southeast coast of County Cork, Ireland where the River Blackwater meets the sea. Former textile manufacturing center, named for the Yew Wood tree once common in Ireland. Location of the restored St. Mary's Parish Roman Catholic Church. Once a stronghold of the Danes and later the Normans in Medieval centuries. Also known for the tomb of the Margaret, Countess of Desmond.
