Mrs. Mary Veronica "Roni" Yungwirth, 95 of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2016.

Native of North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Syracuse resident for over 70 years. Mrs. Yungwirth was a salesperson at the former E. W. Edwards, Wells & Coverly and retired from Sibley's Department Store in 1986.

Communicant of Assumption Church and member of its Altar Rosary Society, the Third Order of St. Francis, a Bible study group and an active volunteer with the former Assumption Academy and the Convent School.

Former member of the Ross Park Neighborhood Watch Association. Mrs. Yungwirth and her husband traveled to Fatima, Portugal to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in 1983. Predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband of 68 years, Gregory J. Yungwirth who passed away on February 22, 2011.

Survived by three daughters:

  • Mary M. (Joe) Howard of Silver Spring, MD,
  • Joan M. (Jimmy Ryan) Yungwirth of Liverpool, NY;
  • Anne M. Grome of Liverpool, NY;

one son:

  • Joseph G. (Inga) Yungwirth of Hagerstown, MD;

19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Anita Thompson and Beatrice Pilkenton; two brothers-in-law, Thomas (Agnes) Yungwirth and Jerome Yungwirth; many nieces and nephews encompassing three generations.

Mr. Gregory J. Yungwirth, 93, of Liverpool and formerly of Ross Park in Syracuse, died on Tuesday morning, February 22, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

A native of Antigo, Wisconsin, and a Syracuse resident for over 65 years. Mr. Yungwirth was an engineer at General Electric for over 42 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a communicant of Assumption Church and served as an altar server for many years.

Survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Veronica "Roni" Yungwirth of Liverpool; three daughters, Mary M. (Joseph) Howard of Silver Spring, MD, Joan M. (Jim Ryan) Yungwirth of Liverpool, NY, Anne M. Grome of Liverpool, NY; one son, Joseph G. (Inga) Yungwirth of Hagerstown, MD; four sisters, Virginia (Harold) Bond, Anita Thompson, Beatrice Pilkenton, Janet (Patrick) Switlick, all of Fond du Lac, WI; two brothers, Jerome Yungwirth of Fond du Lac, WI, Thomas (Agnes) Yungwirth of Green Bay, WI; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Jerome R. Yungwirth

Jerome R. Yungwirth, 90, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, December 2, 2019 at St. Francis Home. He was born February 3, 1929 in Fond du Lac, the son of John and Veronica Mayer Yungwirth. Jerome served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Japan.

On January 29, 1955 he married Joan M. Kastorff at St. Mary's Catholic Church and she preceded him in death May 23, 2001. Jerome worked for Giddings & Lewis until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary's Holy Name Society, past member of the Elks Club and boy scout leader. He relaxed doing jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. Jerome vacationed in Vilas County for many years with family. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking, fishing, playing sheepshead, and loved getting together with family for dinner.

He is survived by his son, David Yungwirth of Mt. Calvary; his daughter, Karen Yungwirth of New Berlin; one granddaughter, Ashley Yungwirth; brother, Tom (Agnes) Yungwirth of Green Bay; sister, Beatrice Pilkenton of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Patrick Switlick of Fond du Lac; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; daughter-in-law, Joyce Derge Yungwirth; three brothers, Greg (Veronica), Bob, and John (Ann); four sisters, Virginia (Harold) Bond, Lois (Al) Weber, Anita (Tony) Thompson, and Janet Switlick.

mrs. Yungwirth Gregory and Mary Vero Nica Yungwirth of Syracuse celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary saturday by renewing their marriage vows at an Eucha Ristic mass at Assumption Syracuse. A dinner was held at top 0 the Hill after the mass and was hosted by their children. Special guests were four of Greg s Lois be Atrice Anita Janet and Greg s Jerry Yungwirth. They All traveled from Wisconsin to Surprise the couple.

Roni and Greg were married May at St. Mary s roman Catholic Church. Fond do Wise.

Greg retired in 1982 from general electric company inc. After 42 years employment. Roni retired in 1986 from Sibley s. The couple enjoy and spending time with their active grandchildren. Greg especially enjoys Reading and working Cross word puzzles.

The Yungwirth travelled to Portugal for their 40th wedding anniversary. They plan to attend the annual Yungwirth family reunion in fond do in August.

The Yungwirth family includes Mary Michael Howard of Silver Anne Marie Joan mane both of Joseph Gregory Yungwirth of and eight delightful grandchildren. We ask the lord to bless both of them with continued good health and many more years of happiness together.
